Well, I think it will be. He carries stealth weapons and avoids contact in the clip. Gives reason to assume that it will have more in common with something like Splinter Cell of MGS than halo.

He also has no shield. A spartan with shields can take on several brutes like in halo 3. A spartan without shields would last about 2 or 3 seconds. A normal human would be instantly dead by that account so it's a safe bet that he will avoid any confrontation during the game.
I was thinking much the same. He's going to get marmalised if he gets into a fight with anything significant.

Anyway, looks sweet. With NXE now mid-November and this Fall 09, it seems everything to wait for's that bit further back... except Fable 2, that is.

With no cortana, I suppose that they had to implement another way , similar to the one in the halo games (cortana), to convey the story progression.

Flood wasn't on earth at that point in time. (I think)

The canon wouldn't allow for Flood in this scenario. What it would allow for is the reintroduction of Elites as enemies.

We don't really know, I guess so though.

We certainly know the time scale it's set in.

Yeah Halo SWAT. Or call me a cynic but Halo of Duty 4. Don't think Bungie are happy about the usurping of Live. ;)

New Mombasa, on Earth. The city Master Chief (all too briefly) visits near the beginning of Halo 2. The 'explosion' that appear early in both trailers is the Prophet of Regret slipspacing to Delta Halo, where Chief follows. So in a sense it is a 'prequel', but really it's more of a sidestory to the events of Halo 2 and 3.

    Usurping?
Not now but back a wee while. Halo3 is being kept up by the new map packs innit, if CoD4 release a load of maps now i'm pretty sure halo3 would drop again.

Actually, we do know. You can see exactly where and when it takes place. New Mombasa, right after the prophet jumps inside earths atmosphere.

    What?

So you think that a lone marine will wade through hordes of enemies without any form of protection?

Yeah I miss those levels of Halo 2, New Mombasa and Delta Halo, they were always the ones I came back to.

Going through the alleys of New mombasa on legendary with a sniper was classic Halo fun.

    @ecu
maybe the recon part is more significant than you think?

Personally, I would not want this to go into stealth territory at the expense of shooting things. Let me shoot things too at least.

They would have to seriously weaken brutes to let a lone marine be able to stand up to them. 2 sniper shots to the face to take one down? A smack to the back of the head seems to sort them out though... if you can get close enough. Don't think halo is really engineered to have a stealth element though innit. Halo Manhunt.

Oh I too think it'd be a surprise if it wasn't a similarly focussed on shooting.

Obviously, but we don't know that it's only on earth.

I hope by the end of it you hook up with all the other troops that came in on drop pods and have a massive gritty cityfighting ruckus like in that Halo 3 diorama trailer with the models. Always expected that to pop up in Halo 3 and it never did. shame.

There was the formation fighting from the first gameplay vid from halo2 that was never shown n'all, the jackals in a big formation coming at the chief on the streets of new mombasa.

Yeah, I imagine it'll be more about the sneak and the one on few action than big, sprawling warfare. After all, that's what the main game's for.

No, but it's a shooting game. Maybe they'll sort him out with some sort of advanced armour at the beginning of the game.

I mean, they're not going to turn it in to splinter cell, are they?

He wears a ODST armour. The backstory mentions that they are more advanced than normal stuff but nowhere near the tech of a spartan. No shields anyway.

Maybe it will involve more tactical shooting. Like silent stealth kills and long distance sniping. I'm sure that they can work something out.
