After stalling on it over and over I'm finally doing the last ten of DS9.

    Which Trek ends best?

TNG has a lovely domestic take which fits very well. The later series all in a bit of a hurry to tie loose ends?

    @simpleexplodingmaybe

Not sure yet, but I remember that I found DS9 had a particularly disappointing last season.

TOS: ended abruptly in the middle of its worst season
TNG: can't recall but I'm going to find out soon
VOY: ended as meh as it started, nothing interesting in any way
ENT: finished a fun last season with an utter disgrace of a final
    DSC: well that's just begun.

TNG only great ending, DS9 decent, YOY was average, rest were shit.

DS9 leans in hard on the Sisko Space Jesus stuff from I remember

Afaik DS9's final season was a total mess with a terribly ill-conceived pseudo-Bajoran Dukat working together with a terribly ill-conceived late Kai Winn on an ill-conceived planet of Bajor where there was nothing left but those two. And then, Sisko in some laughably ill-conceived pseudo religious bullshit way. At least that's the late DS9 mess how I recall it.

I liked it when the Space Jews and the Space Palestinians were brought together by Space Larry Fishburne who plays his popular turn of the 20th Century Thong Song.

Space Bashir puts his old man into the woman Space Jesus confusingly calls Old Man and then there's a bit of singing, Sisqo starts saying It's Hot in Herre despite not being Nelly and credits

Only the Bajoran Sisko Space Jesus stuff is shit in the last season, all the war stuff is top. Best to stop watching the last episode at the victory party.

I rather enjoyed Dukat and Winn going at it like knives. There was something compelling about two of the greatest villains on TV trying to fuck each other over in the most abstract ways.

The stuff with the war wraps up quite nicely, if a little too conveniently. The scene with Sisko, Martok and the admiral stood around a barrel of blood wine was great, good contrast between Klingons and Humans after a battle. And I liked Damar's journey from background extra to leader of the rebellion.

The more 'magical' par wraith stuff was a bit slapdash and well, shit.

The final season overall is pretty good though, certainly not bad.

I like how Tacking Into The Wind wraps up the Klingon political intrigue arc that had been rumbling on since TNG. For all his dourness Worf has been very instrumental in changing Klingon politics...

What I always found disturbing about DS9 was I found myself rooting for the Cardassians (even Kim). Does this mean I'm a Labour politician

Don't know if that's so uncommon. I've always been in love with the Cardassians, not sure why

    Because they're pretty awesome.

Garrak obviously, but Dukat has his moments too. Even Damar. That one in the first season who pretended to be a war criminal.

The DS9 Dominion war in retrospect, whilst generating some amazing episodes, just didn't do justice to the idea of a galactic war..in fairness I don't know how any media/fiction could.

I never will get the Burnham hate...she is a Vulcan; conflicted; guilt ridden; intelligent. Great character. I was super annoying the way they wrapped the Klingon War up, again, impossible to do justice to a conflict that size.

It's been awhile since I've seen it but I remember the stakes feeling much higher in the Shadow War in Babylon 5. DS9 has some great war episodes but then the next one will be some silly domestic adventure as if nothing is happening.

No disrespect, but I hope the series isn't about him. I hope it's just a couple of episodes in Disco or something else.

To be fair, now that Romulus is gone, Spock is gone, and the Romulans are left to the mercy of the Federation.. that would potentially make a very interesting Ambassador Picard series

Might also be interesting to see cameos from other characters like, Worf, Janeway, Deanna etc... Maybe even Wesley hahaha! In fact, that should be the first scene, Wesley comes into Picard's office, "Shut up Wesley!"

He'll probably be writing his memoirs with a quill or some shit and it'll all be flashbacks to earlier points of his life.

I do hope the producers are canny enough to get McKellan on, even if just for an episode or two.
