Too much happened for me to figure out all the plot holes, lol.

I mean, the Admiral dying seems obviously bullshit. Beyond some crude mechanical solution, couldn't they just transport her out? It is within the ship so wouldn't even need to lower the shields, although they managed that for Spock...

And also, I still don't see why they didnt just spore drive the fuck out of there. Who cares about time when they could go to the other side of the galaxy. It would take Control a thousand years to get there.

Also, if the sphere data is so self aware / all controlling such that it can take over the ship to stop it from self destructing, shouldn't it also know to stop itself from being transferred somewhere else? And when they were doing the earlier transfer into the suit, why didnt they just plan to destroy it?

Also, if the primary objective was to stop the data from going to Control, why were they ways so worried about discovery surviving the trip.

Also, pretty sure they could have used some deflector shield modifications to sort stuff out.

Honestly I think both sets of series writers were always looking for ways to get Discovery out of the original setting and timeline - first the Mirror universe twist and then all the time jump stuff.

It just seems like they were desperate to have exciting things happen but not fuck with canon. Honestly, they need to just wait until the CBS/ Viacom rights nonsense is sorted before carrying on with all this.

I think it should be it's own thing. No one whinges about the hundreds of iterations of Spider-Man or Batman yet all are recognisably the same thing

I think we have seen a setup for a pike based enterprise show. Seems like they made a lot of effort for new sets and new actors not to.

On the one hand I'd like that, I thought Pike was great and the Enterprise looked awesome, on the other, not sure how I feel watching a show knowing without doubt that our beloved captain is going to suffer an awful fate.

    Again, simultaneously awful and amazing.

Looking forward to a canon free future.

Ignoring the plot holes, I do like that that there's a central plot to each season of Discovery.

Having just watched the last episode- I was sure that the final scene would have shown Control- the Secton 31 AI- become the proto Borg, on account of how it assimilated Leeland.

    [Edit]

Just read the last page of comments- clearly I wasn't the only one to think this!

Am I missing something? I saw nothing that implied anything Borg related.

Little robots taking over human bodies, saying variations of resistance is futile in a quest for all the knowledge in the universe didn't ring any bells?

That was it. Not every crazed AI is the Borg and Star Trek has more than just Control. It just smacks of a fan boys disappointing wet dream.

It was pretty overt. They even had a green syringe filled with nanites. Definitely a Borg fake-out, and they might even revisit that in the next season.

Quite enjoyed season 2 of Discovery but not so much the final episode.. the 'battle' dragged on for so long it almost hit Transformers levels of boredom!

Why did they still go through the wormhole after Leland died?

Because they’d already voted for it and Trexit means Trexit.

Because they couldn't be absolutely sure that that was definitely the end of Control for good.

Imagine if the showrunner came out and said that all this was a metaphor for Brexit

In my 1st rewatch of series 4 of TNG saw The Drumhead today. Great episode. Hardly dated. The acting from the cast. Makes me a little sad that other than production values and the odd character Discovery just aren't a scratch on TNG.

Drum head is one of my favourite episodes of TNG. Patrick Stewart was brilliant

Harry being trapped on planet sex near the end of season three of Voyager is very TOS

Man the production values and direction really steps up so many levels for Scorpion.

And tension almost reaching the heights of DS9's peak.

I know they lose a lot of their mystique later on but this first part is as good a Borg episode as you get

Part 2. Someone has definitely raided the First Contact props and costume department.

Also this is completely not how I remember Seven being introduced. I 100% remember her being found like Hugh was.

Do you think they deliberately wrote long hair Kes to be so tedious so that we wouldn't care about her being killed off?

How would it sit these days, if a series was flagging and the producers stuck a blonde bombshell in a corset into the cast?! 😂

I did like the interactions with her and the Doctor later on though. Tragic we didn't get a proper homecoming episode, I skipped most of season 7, did I miss anything apart from Chakotay being an appalling commanding officer and sleeping with a member of his bridge crew?

To be fair as well as adding a new hot crew member Season 4 has seen production values, drama and general darkness really spike.

Not in a gradual way like DS9 had, just a straight jump.

One thing about Voyager season four that really stands out watching so many episodes in a short space of time. It really feels like Voyager is being boarded and/or taken over unawares.

It's essentially become their God-like entity or time travel episode.

I quit watching the second I learned about Chakotay and Seven. Her interactions with the Doc were the only reason I persevered with the show after the whole insectoid alien simulated Earth invasion plot. Its a travesty that the 7-Doc romance never materialised.
