On a side note, what's with the fashion for reboot trailers playing the theme tune softly on a single piano at the end? I noticed it in Top Gun yesterday and now Picard today. I blame Jurassic World for starting it.
I get your general point but this really isn't a reboot, it's a sequel. It literally has established characters in it.

    That didn't look utterly shit.

I'm tentative though, didn't Discovery's trailers not look shit either?

Amazing trailer, buuuut, straight away it feels like they're trying to promote this young rag tag crew - they can fuck off straight away! Also, hope they keep meaningless action to a minimum (which they won't). But as dream trailers go, this is pretty damn cool!

    .... it's gonna be shit isn't it! 😭

The rag tag crew of rebellious outcasts is a bit of a red flag

Not knowing what a reboot is is up there with spelling ridiculous 'rediculous'

I was hoping for it be a futuristic Allo Allo reboot. His Great, great, great Grandfather Renee bequeathed him the fallen Madonna with the big boobies.

Including Seven is a good idea, that character has a lot left to give and Data's stupid death had to be sorted out from that awful film. So the throwbacks seem in context.

I'm fearful about a lot of pew pewin' action and "she is the key to it all" melodrama chat!

@simpleexplodingmaybe there's a reason for that. Remember the TNG episode who watches the watchers?

He might not be Vulcan at all

Generally better than expected but I set the bar low after Discovery.

Also - after near 20 fucking years we FINALLY have something post-Dominion. This makes me happy.

My guess - Picard does to himself what he wanted to do to Hugh - injects himself with a virus and lets himself get assimilated.

I also hope for a John DeLancie cameo as Q but they don't even try to de age him. He just says "what, you didn't want us to grow old together?"

Any kind of saviour/space Jesus vibe is worrying. Especially Doscovery did it with Michael, Spock and Michael again rather than letting the story be about characters reacting to events

More than likely it will be a dud, but I'm still going to watch it.

I completely agree with you. Although I think I can look past it. I'm still rediculously excited by it. The trailer totally had me when I saw data and Picard said, "engage."

To be honest, my biggest concern is that Patrick Stewart drops dead before season 2.:D

Nah, I watched Discovery because I had Netflix anyway for my Trekathon. I have no reason to have Amazon Prime Video, so I'll give this a miss.

Janeway is probably the same in this

Getting a crew of misfits together is slightly concerning, I have visions of Kevin Sorbo/Andromeda shenanigans.

However I'm glad it's not 10 episodes of Picard pottering about preparing the latest vintage of space-wine.

The girl is defo a Borg storyline. I'm going with a fully organic Borg.

Is she Data's daughter come back to life?

Also, I would take Picard plodding around any day over some absolute dick heads saying "this is how we do it these days pops", before engaging the warp drive built by the ever so geeky engineer (who has a picture of La Forge at his station, cos he's a legend and all)

I think we may see Data's daughter being used by the Borg to repel the Romulans, leading to a rebirth of Borg and possible movie.

Everything about this tells me that it at least makes sense, is interesting and there's already characters we can work with.

It just makes me wonder why not start with this instead of Discovery?

Even for Star Trek science where time travel is so common place the idea that hopping dimensions is such a piece of piss that any engineer or bridge officer is capable of creating the necessary reality warping technology from whatever is at hand stretches disbelief for me.

And the plots are usually rubbish.
