Wow just read a few things, if they are true, then I'm just going to watch it to see how bad it is

I enjoy it, though the latest episode did nothing for me and did little to advance the story.

I disagree that the federation was ever regarded as the pinnacle of liberal civilization. The flaws were present from TOS onwards. They had Section 31, Khan, the entire Insurrection plot, the endless space battles.

Aaaaaanyway. It's entertaining and I'm genuinely looking forward to the last three episodes.

several bottles of vodka and a lot of drugs

I have no doubt it will be Picard's fault in Season 3 of STD

Rick Berman, "Star Trek is a formula. It's not my idea, it's not your idea, it's not Paramount's idea. It's Gene Roddenberry's idea of the 24th century, and it's very important for me to remember that. Not because I'm 'faithful to Gene's legacy,' it's because that's what Star Trek is. To change that is to not be doing Star Trek anymore."

Iím loving this, but things like the f-bombs and that eye scene still piss me off, worst offender is the aspect ratio.

This is no more groundbreaking than any trek before hand, but itís 30 seconds away from me watching it with my boy - 3 silly swears and a hostel style shot.

It does feel a little like Netflix said OK you can have 12 Fucks, 28 Shits and as many "Double Dumbass on you!" as you like this season. Which they feel obliged to use.

It's jarring and simply doesn't have the desired impact.

Sadly I hadn't even considered this and it's a damn good point. I still remember the joy and happiness I had at seeing Trek from about 4 or 5. There's no way this would work for getting your boy into it.

TNG had dark side to it and I probably wouldn't show it to my kid. This doesn't even include Dr Crusher being knobbed by a ghost.

More eye-rolling swears this week and it's inevitably building to a big pointless starship battle in the 2 part finale with the sweary grandma admiral sending Picard a fleet and the Romulans having their own load turn up at the cube.

Plot has gone a bit Mass Effect with the ominous "something turns up when synthetics reach a certain level" and warnings from a long dead advanced civilisation.

Still, it has it's moments. Rafi and the holograms had some nice interactions and there were some other good character moments and I still want to see where it goes.

Good write up of the latest episode. It's miles away from Star Trek, or should that be light-years. Must say I don't like the holographic HUD. The character dev is quite good at times.

Felt like a filler episode again before a big plot dump in the last 2.

Every time I see an admiral or a Starfleet uniform I just wish it was a normal federation based star trek show.

    It's entertaining enough I suppose.

Picard is increasingly along for the ride. The scene where they were trying to tell him about Agnes and he was just stammering 'but she was distressed' or whatever trying to defend her just made me feel sad.

They've done some pretty brutal things to some of the returning characters but what has become of the once great captain is maybe the worst thing of all.

    Yeah, the "I don't know how to work this" scene filled me with sadness :{

Thought this was one of the stronger episodes.

Felt very much like the Battlestar Galactica message - when robots get to a certain level humanity is fucked.

Otherwise, decent episode. Finally learned a bit more about Rios.

I'm hoping this series ends with our 3 ex-starfleeters donning their uniforms again and re-listing together on a new Starship.

Hopefully. Holograms aside, the ship they are on at the moment is really uninteresting.

Not a huge fan of the accents employed and like everyone I HATE the incredibly jarring F-Bombs and I'm a bit concerned about the final episode having some overly long pew pew space battle.

That aside I still like it! At its core I like the plot, I wish there was more Picard outwitting villains but it's entertaining.

I could have done with more episodes but as I look back I'm glad it exists in the STNG cannon.

I have lost track, isnt it mainly the admiral who swears, constantly?

She's sworn in both her scenes with Picard so far, although Starfleet is technically a navy so maybe that's accurate. I'm sure Agnes has had a couple and Rafi maybe but I'm not sure.

I enjoyed this one, to a point. Certainly more so than the last. Rios is now holding it all together for me. Robot lady is just a moody teenager. Blonde science lady has had a decent arc.

But the next series HAS to be in Starfleet. I did enjoy Picard's very brief speech about optimism and curiosity. They can't keep Jessica Fletchering the fuck out of him otherwise it'll just be doddery old man puts his nose in things.

    Oh shit, that was amazing.

    SPOILERS!!!
Altan Soong is totally Lore right? We never saw what Beautiful Flower looked like... Also, what are the chances Picard ends up with a new body?

Ok episode. Bit messy like the others.

The new Romulan Warbirds looks pretty great. Again, just highlights to me what could have been with a more standard ST show updated with modern effects.

Solid 6/10, like pretty much every week.

Wtf was that? Getting TOS vibes and not in a good way. Just weird 60s outfits and bad delivery of lines. Also some awful shots and edits.

Something about it had me grinding my teeth. Up there with the worst for me.

You lot must be into self harm, week after week you are in this thread moaning about the latest episode and all I'm left thinking is "why are you watching it then?"

I find it pathetic that you apparently have nothing better to do with your lives then watch a series you don't like.
