It's not a film that needs remaking, but that is a well put together trailer.

    Foundation TV series:

    https://youtu.be/xgbPSA94Rqg

Looks fantastic and has a great cast: I'll watch anything with Jared Harris in it and Lee Pace needs a decent role again.

I'm not a huge fan of Asimov and never liked the Foundation series much: like Aldiss's Helliconia the constant jumping about chronologically made it hard for a simpleton like me to get too involved in the story. It would also seem to make it horribly hard to adapt, which is why no-one's done it before now.

David Goyer's contractually mandated Apple suckoff at the beginning made me vurp a little.

That made me stumble across the pseudo-horror that is the Italian-French stab at a live action Pinocchio:

Hang on, they've made another film of Pinocchio with Roberto Fucking Benigni in it again?

Do they not have any other actors in Italy?

I feel like I've seen the film from that trailer - although it looks like it could be a fun watch.

Trailer for The Watch, a new Pratchett adaptation.

    https://youtu.be/ymQMJDmhu70

Looks interesting, though wtf have they done to Vimes. That's... not Vimes, that's an extra that wandered off the set of Pirates of the Caribbean.

I'm aware of Pratchett and the Discworld series but I've never read any of his books.

I'm one of those that watched the trailer and thought "hmm, might be ok". The comments on YouTube are that of people who have just had piss-soaked, shit sandwiches rammed down their throats!!

Maybe not one for Pratchett heads then :0/

I've watched two episodes of The Watch, and as a Pratchett fan I can confirm all fears as it is an utter abomination. If you try to ignore the big turd they've curled out into Terry's hat it still fails, as it's not a very good procedural and the production budget looks to have amounted to some change and a few sticks of gum that BBC America found down the back of a sofa.

Holy fucking shit, they have got that so utterly and spectacularly wrong I'm almost impressed.

Yeah, the criticism has been fairly universal (and brutal): https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/oct/12/bbc-the-watch-shares-no-dna-with-terry-pratchett-work-daughter-rhianna

Looks stupid, but I'll no doubt give it a try when it reaches Netflix.
