Films that are based on my books are my favourite!

That new skyline flick looks GGI pretty but damn, did any of those actors learn their lines more than five minutes before shooting? I guess I should be thankful they're not still holding their scripts and fingering along the lines, but jesus fuck that looks awful.

    The Disaster Artist

Just had it's first showing at TIFF and the crowd were on their feet at the end of it.

Yup, came here just to post the Annihilation one. Huge fan of the books, and was a little concerned that they wouldn't translate well to film. But the trailer at least looks good!

Not what I expected at all for an X-men spin-off.

Was going to post that. I like the look of it. I mean it will probably end up really bog standard compared to other horror, but it's nice they're trying something different at least.

Rampage. Based on the old video game starring The Rock.

That seems like a lot of story for a creature feature.

Only one character with exaggerated anime eyes. Yeah, it looks dumb.

I can't quite work out the intent with the main character design. Why use real people then have a main character looking like an uncanny valley anime character?

I can only assume it's based on some anime crap or other, and they had to do that to appease the fanboys who'd stink up a fuss (albeit only in their mother's basement) if it didn't look exactly like the source material.

If so I can bet the story makes little sense and is absolutely bonkers, so I'm pretty sure it's not going to be one for me.

    Fixed that for you.

It looks weird, but as the character isn't human you could argue she should fall into the uncanny valley. Not saying that was the intention of the film makers, and I'm not particularly sold on the film in general, but it makes sense an odd sort of sense

    Second Annihilation trailer...

It worries me a bit, because that looks like a straight-up horror movie and the source material really isn't like that. But hopefully it's just something they cut to get the tickets sold.

It's coming straight onto Netflix in the UK. Not sure about your area of the world though.

Ah, ok. I didn't realise that it wouldn't be going to the cinemas.

Still though. I don't mind a bit of horror, but I hope they keep the weirdness and beauty of it.

I find this new trend of big name actors in straight to TV films a bit weird.
Wickie WIld Wild Smith and Natali Poutman both doing it.

    Who's next?
