Registered 15 years agoGuys, am seriously considering buying a lot of games i own already, on steam via the sale just so that i have one centralised location where i can access everything. Just 2 questions though:
1. Patches - do all retail patches get applied on the steam versions? Do you know of any games on steam where the retail patches aren't installed automatically and you have to install them manually yourself e.g. on old games?
2. How easy is it to mod steam games? I imagine it would be the same as normal as the folder directories are all the same as the retail versions.
Any answers would be appreciated! -

I will not. I am strong.
No, you are weak, and you want videogames.

1. Thats the main draw of steam, every game automatically updates with no fuss from you.
2. Varies between games. Some work amazingly well, some don't. -

Registered 14 years agoI should be banned from even looking at that in my financial situation! Bought STALKER because I've always wanted to give it a shot and Risk2 for the same reason... well that, and the gf says it's good. -

Registered 18 years agoI must be getting old, I've pretty much got all the games on that sale that I want.
You must all buy X3, just to keep the space genre going. If anyone doesn't buy it I'll be paying you a Dexter style visit in the near future. At least the screenies in the kill room will look pretty. -

Registered 15 years agoI bought the X3 pack ages ago, then went and bought a wireless flight stick to play it then, then discovered I was too lazy to figure out what commands to map to the stick and never play it passed a quick 5 minute go. -

Don't worry Clive, I have X3 and both Freespace games outside of Steam already -

Registered 17 years agoMy problem with X3 is that when you play EVE you realise just how much better having real people in the galaxy with you is.
I am sorely tempted by most of the store now, but I shall hold off mainly for the daily sales. -

Registered 18 years agoI played STALKER on a 6800GT with 3000+ Ath that I built in 2004. And it still looked great. It really doesn't need specs that high. Obviously, it looks absolutely sublime on the very highest settings, but it's nothing like Crysis for killing your machine. Clear Sky is a fairly sizeable jump though. -

Registered 15 years agoStalker is one of those games that can run on a casio watch with ease and push the latest hardware to breaking point. It's got more scale in the engine than almost any other game. -

I'm considering the X3 pack. I already have the base game but I haven't had time to play it. I've already bought the Abe's pack, Witcher, Nickopol and Machinarium though and WiC, Outrun and Heart of Iron III are waiting to be bought. -

Not for me it wasn't. 2gig Dual Core Radeon 128Mb with 3 gig ram... yeah it's old, but not too bad for Stalker you'd think. Runs like poop, even on the lowest settings. -

For that price definitely. Though everything you've heard about the policemen/combat being annoying is true.
