| Sidenote, I now have 32 games on my Epic account and am yet to actually buy anything. Presumably, the strategy must be working for them as they keep doing it. |

Registered 17 years agoTim Sweeney is on the record from years back saying "the problem for a Steam competitor is that people have years of games in that catalogue, and people like the order of having things in one place. We'd have to be in a position to effectively gift users a big library to even start playing in that space."
I'm paraphrasing.
And then Fortnite happened.
And now they're effectively gifting their users a big library. -

Registered 14 years agoMy library is now 145 strong. Of those, I only bought Outer Wilds and Hades, both with the coupon though. So even those two games I've purchased still cost Epic money.
I really should get around to play some of these games tbf.

I've counted 137, Borderlands 3 is the only one I paid for -

That's an amazing price. By farrrrrr the cheapest it's been.
Noted that on the Epic sale with the coupon you can get Disco Elysium for £10.99 (£20.99 les £10 voucher)
Think that's the cheapest I've seen it... -

Registered 7 years agoYeah, i think I'm up to 60-80. Some really good titles on there too and I haven't paid a penny. Probably going to get death stranding and Squadrons (for a tenner!). Just going to see what the steam sale comes up with. -

May sound silly to some but when/if they get round to adding achievements I'll start playing them. -

Registered 16 years agoHas anybody else found the Epic client is using more CPU since the last patch? It's not huge, but it seems to sit at a constant 3% CPU use or so. -
@Rogueywon Just checked and it's around 3% indeed. I have no idea what it was before the patch though. -

Oh noes! Epic is using our PCs to mine bitcoins! -

Registered 16 years agoI suspect it's more that the animations they added to the storefront in the last update put a constant background load on CPU and GPU. Before the patch, it sat at around 0.5% CPU.
Annoying for me because it tends to inch my CPU usage into the point that steps the noise from my cooling up a notch. I've switched to only having the launcher open when I actually want to use it, rather than letting it run in the background. -

Registered 14 years ago@Rogueywon that could probably be remedied more easily by manually setting the fan steps?
Ryzen CPUs are way too sensitive to heat increases anyway, the default settings are too aggressive. Without manual changes, I would get fan noise whenever I browsed the web.

Registered 1 year agoThe long dark seems to be the latest freebie on EGS. Jurassic World Evolution also allegedly due at some point for the guy that just wasted £3!

Registered 12 years agoNo idea what to spend that £10 voucher on. Hmmm ... possibly Amnesia: Rebirth (9.99) or Disco Elysium (10.99)? Death Stranding is a possibility, too. But I suspect I'd end up getting bored with it.
Also Metro: Exodus for, after the discount, 3.99 ... Hmmm
Hope you enjoyed this slightly drunken stream of consciousness. Edifying, I'm sure.. -

I think Metro Exodus is meant to be one of the Epic games coming free, isn't it? -

Disco. Everyone should get it.
Slightly tangential: look up the history on how Disco Elysium came to be, it's pretty amazing. That Kurvitz dude must be an absolute creative mastermind. And he was completely wasted when he came up with the idea, ha! -

Registered 12 years ago@Dgzter AFAIK the voucher is repeating - so as soon as you use it you get another, etc.
Basically what I'm saying is buy all the games!

Registered 11 years agoHorizon Zero Dawn (PC) is currently £19.95 on CDKeys. Saw it on Steam reduced, but thought I'd hold on for a bit. Gave in for that price.
Also gave in to Death Stranding for £17 using the voucher on Epic.
I used my second £10 voucher to get Anno 1800 for £8. Then went on Ubi Connect to see I already had it. No idea where it came from, pretty sure I didnt buy it, and my UbiPlus has run out and its still available. Has it been free from anywhere recently...? It wasn't part of the Ubi freebies last week was it?

Okay, the latest EGS freebie is Inside and anyone who doesn't own it already REALLY needs to get that.
It's a spiritual successor to Limbo and absolutely fantastic. And it's free!
