Christ, let him buy new if he can afford new. It sounds like its one thing he has decided for himself and he gets shot down.

Surely blize should want a sofa that has seen some action? Sure as fuck not going to see much after he gets his grubby mitts on it.

"Hi, random girl, welcome to my home! You might notice the rug in the corner - interest story about that. I visit two hundred thousand websites and got one with just the right acoustic properties to dampen the sound from my home cinema. Here, let me draw you a diagram of the likely propagation of sound waves in this living space.... wait, where's she gone?!"

The above scenario does, of course, depend on the woman in question having come round from the rohypnol and somehow managing to loosen her bonds.

When my sofa gets a bit grubby, I clean it. As crazy as this sounds, you can do this with other sofas as well, even second hand ones.

You can do it with carpets too. I've saved myself a bundle not replacing the carpet every two weeks.

Please tell me your secret oh wise one, and can this be done on wooden floors? I have very sore arms from chopping down a fresh tree and lugging it home from the park each week, splinters all over my hands, and a headache from all the varnish. If only there was some alternative!!!!

I can't believe the amount of stick I get on here for some really trivial things.

Have to say, the answer is kinda in the question here...

Christ imagine how much stick you'd get if you asked people in real life.

"What sofa should I get? Leather or fabric? Corner sofa or a regular 3 seater and 2 seater?"

Some things are meant to be a personal decision and quite frankly other people couldn't give a fuck :)

Be a man, go out to some shops even Ikea if you have too, find something you like the look/feel order and then run the fuck out of said shop before your willy disappears.

What is there to plan? When I loved in TV and hi-fi and stuff went in the corner with the TV aerial socket, sofa against the wall opposite, bookshelf in the other corner, coffee table infront of sofa. That's it.

You been spying on my house?

Don’t buy anything from Ikea if you enjoy having a pain free, functional spine.

To try and get this thread back on track.

What are the advantages of 7.1 over 5.1? Is it literally just the 2 middle speakers?

I assume you need a fairly large room to even notice?

Seven seperate channels of sound, not just an extra couple of speakers.

It's a subtle effect though, cool, but more about incresing the texture of the sound than blowing you away with the awesome surroundyness of it.
