Looks like they are going to cancel everything up to June to begin with. Aiming to fill the empty August slot with cancelled races (or rejigger calender).

At least a plan is starting to form

June seems too soon though. China still hasnít got this under control and it looks like they were battling this since November.

Everything up to end of may cancelled.

Wonder if they will bother releasing the game for this season.

For those missing some racing this weekend, The Race has organised a Pro-Am tournament on RFactor 2 here:

    https://youtu.be/Hpq9oMLTc-k

Pretty impressive entry list of pro drivers inc Verstappen, Pageneut, Da Costa, Gunther, Montoya (x2). Surprisingly good production values with the BBC commentary team.

Can really see this taking off given how many drivers sim race anyway, and the fact they will all be twiddling their thumbs for the next couple of months at least. Coronavirus could well turn out to be the tipping point for racing e-sports.

Despite the technical issues, that was pretty decent. While it lacks the intensity of real life F1, there were some great battles going on. The one with Hulkenberg was really good.

I'm quite looking forward to the next race

@Flying_Pig well if you ignore the guy he was racing going 4 wheels off the track at almost every corner. Johnny Herbert went from 14th(?) to 1st by just ignoring the first corner completely and I donít think he got punished for it did he? They might as well be playing mario kart.

It's the F1 game, its always been dodgy especially online, some iracing world championship Lando was talking about before he turned the stream off, that's more suited to the format.

I'm sure next week the format will be tightened up, and it was a bit messy but...I really enjoyed it. Some of the battles were great, Jimmy and Lando on the last lap was great which shows it can be excellent when the tech issues and set up get resolved. It's week one, it will get better.

For those with Sky who have paused/cancelled Sport package, it was also on Sky Sports Mix (channel available on all Sky packages) so you would still be able to watch it. Expect next one will be the same as they try to grow an audience.

Lap 1 was a bit of a farce and the technical issues were amateurish, but still some entertaining racing when it settled down. In comparison to the-race.com's RF2 races and the #notthebahgp one that used F1 2019 earlier it was a bit rugged. I expect they'll iron these issues out, plus you'd think Codemasters will start to get more hands-on when they see the scale of the business opportunity. Agree that in an ideal world they'd use a 'proper' sim, but imagine there'd be licensing issues.

I definitely preferred watching real-life drivers to e-sports guys despite the chaos. Was fun seeing Poulter and Hoy but clear that many of the real-world drivers are getting to grips with the quirks of the game.

Well worth watching Lando's stream back for the pre-race period where he phoned some friends for 'tips'. Max, Carlos, McLaren's strategy guy Randy, and Zac Brown were good. Ringing up George Russell for advice on starting from the back row was a particular highlight! "At what point should I get passed by Kubica?", superb trolling.

The potential here is massive. It will never be as tense/exciting as the real thing but there are things you can do with a sim that would never be possible or politically doable in real life. i.e. classic tracks & cars (with better sounding engines), reverse grids, team endurance races with GT style driver changes. Tv coverage also has the potential to be better as it's so much easier and cheaper to get any cam angle you can conceive and in-car audio from any driver.

I loved the esports race. It wasn't perfect but it was really fun to watch. I'll be watching the next one. Hopefully they'll do 50%.

Practice is on for the mon/wed/fri championship Lando mentioned last night before he stopped his stream. Good line up of real drivers on iracing using F3 today and V8 aussie cars Wednesday, Friday nobody knows until qually starts I think.

eSports race was brilliant. Enjoyed the end of qualifying when some of the drivers decided to crash into each other. Repeatedly.
