Wohoo! You're not gonna fucking beleive this! I just called into my friends design studio, and was showing him the camera, and said I was going to monument to shoot some stuff. He then mentioned tilt and shift, and I told him about not having the right equipment. From nowhere, a photographer that rents a desk in the studio came over and handed me one, saying 'here you go, take that, keep it as long as you want and I'll get it back if I ever need it - which will probably be never'. \o/ Not sure what make it is, but he's recently upgraded to a Canon one, so it sits there doing nothing. Haha! |

Registered 19 years agoI didn't know what you meant by T/S so naturally I wikied it. Once you understand the principles it seems a blatantly obvious thing to do with your lens-film/cell arrangement. A bit more digging and I came across this.
You're going to have a lot of fun with that lens, I hope you get to film some real-time shifting. -

Registered 18 years agoI recently bought a PEN E-PL1 and it has a tilt-shift "art filter". A fun side effect is that if the filter is on when filming there is an automatic stop-motion effect due to the fact that the camera takes a while to process each frame.
A real short test here. After that the battery died ;_; -

Seems ok though.
I think part of the problem is movement defeats the optical trick on your eyes. I don't know how to explain this (as I'm thick) - but when something moves in these movies your brain is no longer fooled into you thinking your looking at a model. As it moves too well to be a model.
Or something

Registered 19 years agoI think it also helps to look down on things at an angle, some shots looked much better than others because of that. I know that was what you were generally doing, but the straight on shots just look normal with a bit of blur. Your comment about a wider lens is probably true as well. -

I'm hating myself for not getting the swankier E-P2 but other than that I really enjoy it. First DSLR for me and the extra clarity and shallower DOF is really nice.
The screen is shit though so I will have to get an electronic viewfinder for it. The AF is as slow as they say but I just saw there's a firmware update on the way to speed things up a little.
Most of all I'm hating myself for not getting it before I went to Zhangjiajie. (But on the other hand being there is what made me want a better camera so well(chicken after egg and all that))
I can shove it in a jacket pocket which I love. -

Sorry to be picky but I think it’s worth pointing out that the PEN is not a DSLR. -
Hang on...unless it is...
Is it?
