Calm down on the Jif hate, it's real lemon juice and some preservative. Hardly Satans semen.

Mm, I like that lime idea. Maybe brown sugar as well.

    Almost like a Mojhito pancake!

Nothing wrong with a cheese and ham pancake, but sweetcorn and vinegar is bizarre.

    Lemon and Sugar. Rolled up.

The only way to have them.

And remember folks, every yorkshire pudding is a pancake that never was :(

Ugh. I remember that Jif stuff (the plastic lemon that is, although I do also remember the cream cleaner).

Are actual lemons really so hard to come by?

    What's wrong with lemon juice?

    Actual lemon juice...nothing.

    Your a lemon snob?
  • Deleted user 7 March 2011 16:32:18
Not really, it's just that lemons aren't exactly the rarest of luxury items, and surely they're preferable to using pasturised processed stuff.

So what's the definitive pancake mix then?

Should i be using goose fat? Where's Binarybob when you need him.

Good point - I'm a fruit snob myself - apart from lime juice as limes just go off before I use them.

Anyway - pancakes on Shrove Tuesday I'd go for lemon or honey and lemon. Any other time it's bananas and chocolate buttons.

We should take photos for bragging rights. Let's see who makes the best pancake.

I saw the same thing, fat bastards I thought to myself as I ate my breakfast doughnuts.

Saw this when I visited california when I was 17. It's like they challenge thmeselves to see how many calories they can pile on one plate.

I tried to explain to my gf about these cherrys we would put in pancakes years ago (10+), must be glace ones in red sauce of some kind?
that with some vannila icecream was lush but I cant for the life of me remember what it came in. Like is it some kind of tinned cherry or something?

Anyway she looked at me like I was mental :(

Glace cherries always used to come in plastic pots. Think they were always stuck with baking stuff in supermarkets.

They were never safe if my mum left them unattended in an easily reachable cupboard.

Just had my first pancake, lemon and brown sugar (yum). I always hate how it takes 5mins to cook but I eat it in 30 seconds, so I might start cooking two at once...

Another topping I can recommend is to add a little ground cinnamon to your sugar - might want to leave lemon off that one though.

    Point of order!
Pancake Day may be clearly labelled, but if you check any reputable calendar, and any set of byelaws you can think of, you'll quickly find that the other days aren't not-a-pancake day.
If you were observing Lent then having a pancake the day after Pancake Day might be a no-no, but a pancake or six the day before Pancake Day? That's a yes-yes.

I myself intend to have a large, doughy pancake topped with mozarella and pepperoni this evening, preparatory to some nice pancakes with lemon juice and sugar tomorrow. And maybe a couple with Nutella.
  • Deleted user 7 March 2011 20:00:38
Just bought more Nutella, no bananas though :(

    BRING IT
