Something bigger than I've got currently (Focus) to taxi the kids about in. So probably a Sportage or Toureg or something equally dull. I dunno really, but minds have been focused quite quickly!

Look for something in stock rather than needs to be built. Cheaper, too.

Right, how quickly can these dealers turn a lease around? New clutch needed on a 14 year old car which will cost more than the car. But also can't afford to be without a car.
Up to a week for turnover.

What's everyone opinion on a reliable family car used for £2k or less?

Have looked at mondeo and vectras both new shape. Is there any others I should be looking at?

I suspect that they may not be reliable for long

Something like a 2008 civic if you can find something under 100k miles.

We haven't all got plenty of spare cash every month, besides £2k will get you a perfectly good/safe motor. Some of us also place a car lower down the list in life's priorities. Dick

It'll be fine be fine of course, but as I say, probably start to deteriorate in a few years. My trusty focus was bought for £5k 9 years ago and this is the first time I've had to have any work done on it.

Problem is that under a certain price itís going to end up costing your more in the long run right?

Haha thanks all, I don't mind the ribbing. I've had jags xfs in the past and have currently got a mazda 3 hatch so am slowly downgrading my way to a nissan micra 😂😭

I think the civics are too small but the mazda 6 is a good shout.

I've ruled out the vectra so seems like a choice between mondeo and mazda 6.

@fontgeeksogood would have to pay 3k unless I go above 100k mileage.

Trying to stay south of 80k mileage

I hear you and I am missing out on putting a "VTEC just kicked in yo " sticker on the window.

But I'd also be looking at a 2004 car instead of a 2008/2009.

I'd buy a Lexus GS300 (newer shape) and not GAF about mileage as they are fucking bombproof

I dunno if you are going to get more bang for your buck than an Insignia, for better or worse. Those things are dirt cheap.
