I just got kicked out of uni for no reason!

I just found out that I've been kicked out of uni. It's for bad attendance, but the weird thing is, I went to every class every single week.

    :/

I'm trying to think how this could of happened. I always arrived 5/10 minutes before the start of each class and signed the register at the end of each class.

I've been arguing with my main tutor about this. It goes along the lines of this:

me: Em, so I've been withdrawn for bad attendance. The thing is, I went to every class.
    him: No you didn't.
    me: Yes I did.
    him: No you didn't.
me: Is there anything I can do about it?
    him: No.
    me: Ok bye.

The uni has just rapped me for £5000. So mad.

Cant you produce proof like lecture notes, handouts and all that caper?
  • Deleted user 5 March 2009 12:18:31
If you've signed the register then you have proof you were there. Just go above your main tutor, it's got nothing to do with him anyway.

Hmm... demand to see the register. That'll put an end to it.

Didn't know that any unis in the UK required attendance.

Won't they need to provide proof (the register)?

Can you not do owt through the Student Union?
  • Deleted user 5 March 2009 12:19:20
I didn't take notes every lecture though.

    /o\

I've asked them for dates so I can check them with the notes that I have.

Heh, if they kicked me out like that I'd likely just flip out and smash some shit up.
  • Deleted user 5 March 2009 12:19:54
Student Union, registers, assignments, they needed to provide proof with the initial clakim anyway.

To be honest, its hard to see how this would happen unless you either werent going or you ran over your tutors dog.

Thread title is wrong. There was a reason, albeit an incorrect reason.

I'd have kicked you out for that mistake alone.

I've been to the student union to speak to an advisor about three or four times now. They do fuck all. They keep telling me that they'll email me if something happens. Ok....

Don't bother with notes, if you signed the register you have proof. Just go above your retard tutor. Now.
  • Deleted user 5 March 2009 12:22:15
That's absolutely bizarre. Talk to your union and demand proof.

Also, I didn't know that you had to sign a register at any unis. That's a weird one.

You have been going to the correct classes, right?
  • Deleted user 5 March 2009 12:23:00
    East London you do.
  • Deleted user 5 March 2009 12:23:32
Yep seems simple to me, just ask them to show you the registers.

Yep, I even double checked the classes on the timetable today just to make sure.

Have you pissed off your tutor somehow? Dared to express an opinion in class?

This doesn't make any sense. How could he be saying that you weren't there? How does he know?

Ask him how he knows you weren't there.

    Yeah, this.

I've never heard of anything like it, even with people with shit attendance.
That's the thing that gets me. I've known people who turned up to about three lectures in their whole time at uni and they still didn't get kicked out.

Ask him how he knows you weren't there.

The module was split into lectures and tutorials, so I only seen him once every week. But my other tutor (who doesn't come across as a smug cunt) could definitely confirm I went to every tutorial.

I’m assuming he’s talking about mandatory tutorials instead of the lectures. For my course I had to go to 5 out of 10 tutorials or something, and sign in at the start of each one.

I’m quite sure there’s simply been an oversight which can be fairly easily solved by speaking to the right person in the right way, ie going through administrative departments as opposed to your tutor or whatever. This is a paperwork thing.

I actually had a very similar problem with my degree where they refused to give my MA over a dispute over my dissertation, and would only give me an PGDip. It was easily solved by chatting to a friendly secretary in the end.
