I now have a 2013 E250 convertible, which might not look so classic, but is considerably nicer to drive due to all the added electronic loveliness.... It's a bit of a balance really.

I guess I am a chav with money...
    :(
Sorry Al, didn't intend to offend:(

It's really the most recent models I was referring to, and mostly the limo's and SUV's; coupes are still quite nice and I wouldn't mind any of them.

Form over substance (the CLA looks like it can only hold kids in the back with that lower back roof) and LEDs and that flashy stuff I don't think fits the brand very well. They try to ape Audi & co's "angry look" and it's a shame they're going down this route.

    But then I'm driving a 2008 CLK soon-to-be banger so I would say that wouldn't I!

    Don't worry, I'm not offended. :)
I know lots of people hate Audi/BMW/Merc drivers. Thing is though, there are plenty of shit and/or aggressive drivers in other car brands, but no one seems to feel the need to moan about them.
And the thing is, they are very nice cars, just tainted by the twatty rep image.

Al, did yours come with those beaded seat covers

    No, it's not a minicab.

That is true, I think premium cars get noticed more because a) they're premium and b) there's so many of them out there (fleet, leases etc.).

Had an M5 flash his headlights at me for not moving over and crash into the lorry I was overtaking - this was in France yesterday, in bad weather, and me more or less observing the speed limit (French speeding tickets aren't cheap) and thought "c*nt" but not "BMW driver c*nt". Similarly the day before that an Audi (S4) was tailgating me so close that I didn't see most of his bonnet. I in turn was held up by someone in front of me so there was no need for that.

My car looks sporty but definitely doesn't drive it (handles like a bus actually) - it's really more of a cruiser so my driving style changed accordingly, and this seems to wind up a lot of people by the looks of things.

I try to slow down for tailgaters.
Wouldn't work in the rain of course, but I also go for the windscreen washers trick. Done to great effect once when being tailgated by a guy in a convertible (roof down). He didn't seem very happy, but he did back off a bit.

Vulgar. I think that's the word I was looking for. Current Mercs look utterly vulgar. After looking at them for a bit, suddenly BMW's and Audis started to look elegant and classy in comparison. Mercs aren't supposed to look vulgar.

Mercs have always looked like a pimps car.

How do you keep a box of tissues to stay still on the dashboard of your minicab

I quite like the grille on the new C class.
  • Deleted user 31 May 2016 16:16:05
I usually slow down or let the brake lights light up but depending who is behind you will only cause them to pull more risky maneuvers (or in the case of the Audi, cause an accident). Windscreen washers is my preferred option although most people seem immune to that unfortunately. Oil dispensers a la Goldfinger would be very useful!

    CORRECT!

Nah, all Mercs are uglier than the 2-series tourer. Ugliest BMW imo is the 5-series Gran Turismo.

My wife has a 2 Series Actve Tourer, in all fairness I think it actually has a nice front profile, as long as you go for Luxury or (M)Sport trim. The back and side profiles, however, are exceptionally bland. But it's certainly not the ugliest car around

Looks a bit like a Ford Focus with Beemer headlights and grille...

Still don't really understand what the USP of the X6 (or the Merc equivalent) is, other than being a c*ck extender.

It can't do offroad, is too small inside for an SUV, and wants but fails to be a sleek coupe.

What it does do well though is it says a lot more about its driver than other cars.

Wow really? I didn't know that. Pathetic for a car of that size.

I think that's much better than this monstrosity. Seriously, it looks like as if it was shot through a fish eye lens. But it actually looks like that.

Someone mentioned the X6, that's obviously woeful too.

The 5GT back looks as though the belt line is way too high, which is apt as I've only seen them in golf club car parks on weekdays driven by old men
