Just picked this up, changed the camera to 10, 5, 5 and enjoying it far more than the demo. Good so far. |

Registered 12 years agoNo, it really didn't. Not in the way this one will. -

Registered 12 years agoBut in all seriousness, having played one of the campaigns, I still think it's worth playing. Just don't expect any greatness. -

Registered 12 years agoBut isn't CoD great? That's definitely what EG keeps telling me. Zombies are cool, too, so it's a win, right? -

Registered 13 years agoSo, I've literally just started playing this. First thoughts are: God, I've missed Leon's hair. It's so luxuriant. I wonder what shampoo and conditioner he uses.
Second thought is: should I keep a guide handy so when it comes to bosses I know whether to fight or flee? Or did they fix the shitty signposting with patches? -

Registered 12 years agoIt's as straightforward as something very straightforward. You're never in the dark as to where to shoot. -

Registered 13 years agoOh, this is so absurdly ridiculous that it's quite brilliant. It's like they played Uncharted 2 solidly while designing this and said "We should do that, but with more explosions, zombie-mutants and minimal lighting".
Edit - the reason I was asking about the bosses is that I've heard you get multiple encounters with some, and at times they're invincible with no visual cues, and thus you can waste a lot of ammo when you need not be fighting at all.

Registered 12 years agoYeah, the prevalent darkness, or rather the silly contrast, is what annoys me most about the game and I think the main reason I'm somewhere in the middle of Chris' campaign, possibly never to continue. -

Registered 12 years agoHow have the mighty fallen. It's almost painful to watch. Many will disagree, but I found RE5 excellent. The abyss between that and "girl giving blow job to giraffe" 6 is mind boggling. -
I got so far as finishing Leon's Campaign co-op. Actually started quite good then was basically: CUTSCENE! EXPLOSION! QUICK TIME! CUTSCENE! EXPLOSION! QUICKTIME! CUTSCENE! EXPLOSION! ANOTHER EXPLOSION! ANOTHER EXPLOSION! QUICKTIME! EXPLOSION!
So, well, can't really be arsed with the other 3 campaigns now. -

Registered 13 years agoWhat is this fucking game's obsession with not letting you see anything?! Is it some kind of extreme overreaction to those who criticised the daytime levels in Resi 5? I'm actually quite enjoying it do far, but that's by far my biggest gripe. Coupled with the camera being way too close to the character it makes things harder than it needs to be. -
Holy ****! This game has the single most obnoxious use of the forced walk mechanic that I've ever experienced in a game...
Trying to play the Campaign with Leon and literally every minute or so im forced to slow walk through a room, down a corridor etc. had to switch it off out of pure rage! -

Registered 12 years agoGood grief, I'm playing through the Leon campaign (supposedly the best) and Resident Evil 6 might be worse than Quantum Theory.
How could Resident Evil 6 miss the mark so badly? I'm in a constant war with the game, the controls, the camera does it's best to aid enemies, control is frequently taken away from me in favour of scenes playing out. Often I die and I'm none the wiser on what actually happened, crawling zombies seem to be able to nearly kill me by merely swatting ineffectually at my shoes.
Why did they decide to make the pistol nearly useless? It often takes three or four headshots to kill a zombie now. Why break that convention? You're opting to take a more difficult shot in exchange for using less time and less ammunition, it's an established part of the gaming 'economy'. Now I take the risk and get no reward. -

Registered 13 years agoFinally ploughing through this in an attempt to demolish my unfinished pile of games. I can see what they've tried to do with it, 4 different campaigns in an attempt to give everyone something to like. Instead it just feels like a padded mess of a game that doesn't have a clue what it wants to be. If all of this was condensed down into one campaign, this could have been a much better game.
At times it's a lot of fun, then you've got a few hours that are a complete chore before the next decent section. -
