    From the website:

Link uses a variety of new items and weapons, including the Whirlwind, which players activate by blowing into the microphone of the Nintendo DS system.

Fuck, NO! Why Nintendo, WHY?! It's like waggle for the DS!

Link doesn't work, but I'm guessing that's the same trailer I saw earlier with the hilarious voiceover.

Game looks really good though, I reckon this'll be better than PH. Looking forward to it, but still bitterly disappointed at missing out on that GAME pre-order offer. What makes it worse is that the fuckers are still advertising it on telly!

Oops, does now - accidentally put ] on the end.

What about Gamestation? I'm with you on that - I just so happened to place and order thinking there would be ages left that it'd be up so I'm thanking my lucky stars.

I'm just hoping it's longer than PH; I loved it but it was too short and easy - I know that everyone hated Temple of the Ocean King but I loved it as every visit was different and you could always go for the zero time taken challenge (which I succeeded at).

Zelda Developer was stumped by new Zelda game's puzzles

Interesting article including a few quotes from Aonuma highlighting that this one will be more of a challenge than Phantom Hourglass: Good times.

However, it would appear that you have to visit the Tower of Spirits at multiple points during the game, slowly progressing higher up the tower... All too Temple of the Ocean King for my liking: Bad times.

Preview on the front page suggests that the Tower of Spirits will be much more user-friendly. I want to read the Edge review (they gave it an 8) but it's not online unfortunately. I'm glad that the music is apparently much improved in this game, from what I've read all the dungeons will have their own themes again.

This and NSMBWii will sort out my Christmas nicely.

Ah, I see what you're implying there... even though it's the other way round in the games.

Painfully uninterested in this game. Seriously, it's painful - my Nintendo glands have totally atrophied :-(

Pretty much the only thing that keeps my Wii on the shelf is the promise of Other M at some point in the next 5 years.

No love for Mario Galaxy 2? Or Wii Zelda?

Anyway, that sort of discussion doesn't really belong here. I'm excited for this because from what I've read it seems to have addressed the major (imo) issues of PH.

I wasn't all that interested till Kay linked to the special edition. One look at that metal case and figurines and I caved in. So weak! Still, can't be waiting till 2011 for more Zelda action.

I'm going to have to play it to justify my apathy, aren't I?

And re: your question, no, I'm getting tired of the series that don't evolve. Since you ask though, I feel like I've been missing some detail about Wii Zelda... all I knew is that there was one in development. Do we know more now?
  • Deleted user 26 November 2009 18:49:59
What's the point in posting just to say you aren't interested in the game? This is the second time, too. :/

All we have on Zelda Wii is a piece of concept art and confirmation of Motion Plus support. The structure will also be different, apparently.

I think that PH gave the game plenty of evolution. Shame it was too short and easy - same as TWW.

    From the website:

The game does share ties with Phantom Hourglass and Wind Waker though. This is mostly communicated to the player through the Niko character, who appears in all three games. Of course he is much older in Spirit Tracks, and his aging conveys to the player that much time has passed across the timeline of all three games."
That's great news - it's still a 'proper' sequel then.

Got as far as the mention of a main repeating dungeon and went straight to GAME to cancel my order. But then decided I will give it the benefit of the doubt as it mentions there not being a time limit. Still wish they had learnt that that bloody dungeon is what ruined and otherwise great game.

As I mentioned before, the 'main' dungeon is apparently much more user-friendly this time. But the game itself is harder.

Spirit Tracks addresses all of the shortcomings of Phantom Hourglass

That's all I needed to read, really. Just have to find the cheapest place to pre-order and then it's media blackout time.

I'm still not so keen on having a vehicle rather than wandering around on foot- like PH, I'm wondering if it will make the overworld seem really small, and where to go next really obvious. This didn't seem to apply to Windwaker, where you could go nigh-on anywhere from the start, but the charts on PH seemed to limit you to one bit of the map at a time, with the next dungeon having a big red arrow on it when that map section had two small islands and one whopping great big one.

Still, I'm looking forward to some dungeon-crawling with a big armoured knight backing link up for a change!

The GT review makes me believe in the game again. The main dungeon is no longer on a timer and you no longer have to go through the same floor again and again to get to the next part.

I still hate the train/boat/whatever but at least the worst aspect of PH is gone.
