Well that was short... about 5 mins that took to complete, 3 of them on a turret section.
Bit chaotic, couldn't really make any kind of sound judgement on the game. Probably not for me, seems a bit like Halo with mental destruction physics.
The minute or so spent inside the big walker thingy was pretty cool but framerate suffered and I couldn't really tell what was going on.

    What? It's out?

Excellent stuff, downloading now. I'm expecting to really enjoy it, since I even loved how destructible Red Faction 2 was, despite it mostly being an illusion.

I've gotta say, that geomod2.0 is pretty hectic, as for framerate issues in the walker, didnt seem to come accross any "goes to back to taking out buildings" :D

There is, but more in the opening cinematic than in the actual game.

Or I didn't notice it in game.

Yea the 360 version tears like a champion. A few minutes and I'd seen enough.

    Er, no.

Again the 'tearing' nonsense rears it's head. It's down to your TV/resolution primarily, game second. I have no tearing on 90% of the games that people complain about, including this demo. A bit of slowdown, but that's hardly a surprise.

If you're running on 1080p try dropping it to 720.

    Don't you "er, no" me!

Tried it at both 1360x768 and 720p. Performance was the same (shit) at both resolutions.

I noticed a wee bit of tearing, wasn't too bad, just a flicker or 2.

I'm playing on a 40" Panasonic plasma over HDMI at 1080p on 360, and I can't say I've noticed any tearing. It's a totally different engine to SR2, which definitely suffered unless you turned on V-synch

I'd encourage you to trust your own eyes thought rather than me. Or anyone else for that matter...

Gah tearing moaners! I don't know how you cope with life. Such insignificant things have such weight with you. Do you walk down the streets tutting at the cracks in the pavement too?
  • Deleted user 10 April 2009 12:09:56
Well I guess I could try it on other HD tele but lets be honest, that wouldn't make any difference. I don't mind some screen tearing when the engine is being stressed but if it's ever-present I can't take the game seriously.
