The only trouble I've had with the multiplayer is when a game is finished & i press Y to go to the next game, it doesnt usually find one so i gotta quit & search again, not much of a problem though. I would try the single player demo before the multiplayer if i was you just to get used to the controls. Release day buy for me.

Anyone used the re-constructor thing in multiplayer? So fun to knock down a building then rebuild it. Was randomly bashing things with the hammer when i hit some box thing i got a kill, there was a person hiding in there, he must of knocked it down then rebuilt it while he was in there. Hope the re-constructor is in single player too.
Think its gonna get 10/10 from allot of places.

Seems to be an emmerging tactic to grab the Rail Gun which, when scoped, can see through walls, break open a crate and hide inside, then seal up the wall with the reconstructor

Voila - totally enclosed sniping spot!

Oh god. Hope the reconstructor isn't in every mode then because that would make the multi-player incredibly broken.

I doubt very much this will get 10/10 from many places. My experience of the demo presented this as an 'open world + destruction + average = meh' game.

I'd love to but I've never actually managed to join a multiplayer game yet (PS3 version)

20 games found, cycle through all of them failing each one for a variety of reasons, starts hosting own game, nobody joins, repeat until reset and play any other game.

I enjoyed the single player demo but the broken multiplayer is putting me right off. I'm assuming the 360 version works properly.

Hardly, it's a trick that's defeated by having someone else with a sniper rifle looking for such cheap bastards.

Walls are not a strong defence in this game after all.

For those having trouble with the PS3 version -

Yes, there is an issue with matchmaking - Volition are looking into it. The demo's been pulled from PSN for now, and you can report any troubles at the community site - community.redfaction.com

    360 is working fine

@ kinky_mong - there are pros and cons, it is by no means a game winner / breaker!
  • Deleted user 27 May 2009 12:01:49
Colour me pleasantly surprised. The matchmaking system is Halo-esque (I can't see why multi games even bother to release now if they don't have a CoD or Halo standard system) which I of course like, and the gameplay is fun online. Rhino + enemy = win.

Certainly much more interested now, but not quite enough to be certain to buy.

Fair enough. I was just jumping to conclusions after having many multi-player games spoilt by people exploiting oversights on the developers part.

It's not long now before the game is out, so here's a taste of some of the various vehicles that await you on Mars.

I downloaded the single-player demo for this weeks ago, but after dabbling with it several times I had my first proper play last night. I like it, and it seems as though randomly knocking down/blowing up buildings will take a long time before it gets old, but is it just me or is it pretty damn hard?! I couldn't get more than a few minutes into the demo before the EDF kick my arse. Obviously mistook me for a giant ant.

Looking nice. I like the car bomb. Reminds my very much of the C4 packs and BF games.

This is out tomorrow isn’t it? I think I might actually pick this up day one as I really enjoyed the demo.

I just watched the developer demo walkthrough and i heard him say, the damage you do to the world, is permanent. I personally hope that isnt 100% true.

For the naughty naughty people out there the US version is currently doing the rounds on the Torrent sites.

This seems to be doing remarkably well in review land at the moment. 90 average on metacritic from 15 reviews. I put my order in straight after playing the demo but I didn't think it would go down so well with the media.

Its ace. A whole heap of fun. Plus it has proper Halo style party & matchmaking system like all games should be forced to these days.

charging someone with the speed rucksack and hammertiming them in the face is great.

I was playing the other day, sniping some dudes from the top of a 3 storey building, was rolling their whole team then the cheeky buggers disappeared for a second before blowing up the base of the building with charges. It all collapsed, dumping me in the flamin wreckage.

The review is from Xbox360 World magazine, ignore what CVG think the game is, they just reproduced the review.

That review does raise a slight concern actually though they say its a feature. The concern was in the demo the vehicles were virtually unstoppable and for the demo mission you could actually just drive through everything to get to the objective. It made things a tad easy.
