| I played it for a couple of hours last night. Awesome stuff, one of the best games I've played in ages. The side missions and just going around taking down EDF structures, and mining ore was awesome fun. |

Check out the launch trailer for it here:

Plus, here's an exclusive interview at E3 with Rick White, one of the producers from Volition.

I got my hands on it yesterday as I said above, really awesome game, can't recommend it enough, just walking around, taking down EDF buildings and escaping is so much fun. -
Hopefully it will plop through my letterbox in an hour or so... -
Played this for a while last night and its certainly more polished than Saints Row 2 was, in fact it makes you wonder why the graphics engine in SR 2 is so rough when you stack the 2 next to each other.
The demolishing buildings is a hell of a lot of fun, there's a particular satisfaction blowing out all the supports with charges and watching the whole lot come crashing down like a house of cards.
The only thing I'm a tad put off by is that there's been a number of instances when you're attacking and get subjected to a constant stream of EDF reinforcements which can be difficult to shake off, so it's very easy to wind up dead.
In all though, it's an excellent game, certainly one of the best to arrive this year so far and just in time as we begin to enter the summer lull. If we get DLC in the future for it, please don't let us down THQ by giving sub-standard content like you did with SR 2. -
Picking myself up a copy at lunch.
Never played the demo but reading most of the posts in here it is sounding like it could be a good purchase. -

Registered 17 years agoYeah I'm tempted to make this my first launch day purchase in ages. Really enjoyed both demos. Hope it holds up for the campaign and the mp has legs. -

You really liked merc2 didn't you? This has a similarish vibe but (imo) brings tons more explosions and damage. -

Registered 17 years agoAnd from all reports so far technically this looks to piss on Merc2 from a great height and is fairly bug free which is not something you can say of Merc2.
This will actually be the first new game I have bought this year. It's been bargain bucket purchases all year so far. -
I've been playing it on and off for a week - review code. Would have had a review online by now if we hadn't been playing the Mrs is in labour, Mrs isn't in labour, Mrs is in labour again game since Sunday.
Baby hurry up!
But back on topic. Really enjoying it so far. The geomod tec is something all games just have to have in future. Imagine a GTA game where you could bring down a skyscraper! -

as EDF troops easily gun you down, their numbers bolstered by an apparently limitless supply of reinforcements that can flank you in an instant. It's especially problematic if you're tackling those key EDF targets, essentially making any attempt at tactical play redundant since you can never clear the area long enough to plant your bombs in peace. Instead you end up dashing into the thick of things, doing as much damage as possible, then trying to leg it out again before you get killed.
That does worry me somewhat.... I hated that in the demo. -

Thanks Whizzo,
there is a Currys near me on the estate I work, I might have a wonder up there later. -

Indeed I did enjoy mercs 2.
Well that has just made me 100% positive on a purchase now.
Cheers, mh. -

Fuck the EG review, it appears to be written by someone who doesn't know how to enjoy himself.
RFG is the most fun game I've played this year.
I enjoyed Mercs2 as well but this just blows it out of the water. -

Registered 15 years agoReally? I ordered from Amazon at about 4pm yesterday, my copy arrived about 20 minutes ago :/ -
I preordered it a few weeks ago and tbf their estimated delivery time was the 6th but I still thought it would arrive today. Not impressed.
This is the only time I've felt let down with their usually excellent service, but they could have picked something different as I was *really* looking forward to this game! ;_;

I don't agree with the EG review one bit, but everyone is entitled to an opinion. I won't know until I complete, but my feelings are 9/10 easily. I'm enjoying it ALMOST as much as Infamous, and thats saying something. -

Just in time to get a message from my friend who traded 2 for her old games in and got it for £1.99 from Blockbusters...
bugger -
This is £39.95 in HMV by the way so not worth checking them out unless you have no other option.
