You can sneak up on the mountain that overlooks the airfield then, as mentioned, use the nano rifle to snipe them from range.

Rocket launcher is an easy way to complete the Air Traffic Control mission.
Just jump up onto the hills around the air pads and fire away. Even if they take off they are no problem at all.

You can dissolve them with the nano rifle while they're still on the pad, then switch to the rocket launcher to take out any that manage to get into the air. :o)

From here you can actually use (as you probably already know) the nano rifle as a sort of silenced sniper rifle (The EDF don't actually hear it being fired) and take out the guards around the pads, just make sure the guards are facing away from other when you do etc...

Using this method I managed to creep down and plant bombs on 3 of them before even raising the alarm. In fact it's suprising how well using abit of stealth actually works during alot of the game.

picked this up the other day and i'm loving it so far. the learning curve seems pretty steep to begin with - the number of times i thought things were going well on a raid, only to see about six million red dots appear on the radar...!

also, some of the notions of stealth go flying out the window - all too often, i'm happily sneaking around dropping charges or whatever, and then you hear some idiot shout I'LL JOIN THE FIGHT BROTHER and then your cover is completely blown because some stupid civilian decided to turn into Che Guevara for five minutes.

any way to stop that happening?

That's my main issue with the game, it doesn't really feel like aguerilla struggle against the EDF, more like the arrival of the apocalypse :-)

Was enjoying this up until half way through the Badlands. Started to get frustrated by doing missions and fighting EDF then having the Raider guys show up and have to fight 30+ enemies on my own and getting brutally hammered.

Don't know if i'll bother finishing it now :(

Drop the difficulty down to easy. It's far more palatable. Normal seems ridiculous with some of the spawning. It really is a fantastic game... and I don't think anyone was expecting it.

i can't imagine getting past that bloody stupid drive into twelve towers mission in Parker on anything higher than normal - it was absolutely rage inducing.

also, can anyone tell me in a spoiler free fashion if there's any incentive to play again on a higher difficulty once you've done it on normal? (i know there's no achievements for it, just wondering if "increased difficulty" means "spawn an extra 6000 EDF soldiers").

If the raiders and EDF show up in the same place they usually fight each other letting you get away pretty scot free.

Yeah, I just run off if the marauders show up.

Just make sure you take a marauder shotgun back to base with you at some point though, it's the best CQB weapon in the game!

Just finished after God knows how many hours of fun. Serious contender for game of the year, for me.

There's another update on the way, adding a new Wrecking Crew mode - Challenge mode - which can be played single player, as will all the other Wrecking Crew modes!
There'll also be a leaderboard for the Challenge Mode, so you can compare how well you're doing against everyone else :)

More details, and some of the fixes being made, can be found on the community site.

Bit late for me with the Wrecking Crew additions as I got the Wrecking Ball achievement last week, but good to see some double XP playlists being added and continued support for the multiplayer.

    Rented this of LoveFilm

Enjoyed it more than I was expecting, it just so much fun plowing through buildings in big trucks, which then explode. :D

Though I wish the stealth was better implemented with undercover missions and the like.

And the shots of the Hydra made me wish for Freespace 3

Just finished this, game of the year for me! Awesome stuff! Sandbox gaming without all the extra crap that doesn't need to be there (well apart from those horrible driving side quests)

Loved every minute! Even the last mission, which I believe many struggled with. Once you realise that your tank takes damage from the explosions you make/off the rockets you fire when shooting someone to close, its quite easy to make it all the way to the top by killing everything at distance

    Bring on the DLC!

Twitter. What's it good for eh? This, as it turns out...

We’ve got some Xbox 360 codes for Demons of the Badlands – the upcoming DLC for Red Faction: Guerrilla - to give away on our Twitter page.

All you need to do is get your GamerTag into the Top 100 on any Wrecking Crew Challenge Mode Leaderboard. Just tweet your GamerTag, Map and Rank to @THQInsider – e.g.

    THQInsider, Complex, 88

A cursory glance at the leaderboard tells me that there are few EG'ers who've already done the hard part...

Anyone still playing online? Got myself a nice red rank bar yesterday, and the Bloody Bat sledgehammer.

Saw someone using the ostrich too.

Played loads at the weekend making the most of the double XP, went from about 22k to 35k and have played 200 ranked matches now. I absolutely rule at Anarchy.

I don't play much Anarchy - mostly Siege and Demolition for me, with a little bit of Damage Control occasionally.

Really loving this at the moment.

At the start I found it rather difficult, but now it's a lot easier and is immense fun.

Blowing up tons of buildings is a sure fire way of releaving the days stress!

Got hold of a free early access code for the DLC, thanks to THQ, downloading now for when I get home this evening, so will give impressions then!

Hopefully it'll be better than the SR2 DLC! Of course if there's any more freebie codes going from our THQ friends I'd be more than a little interested. ;-)
  • Deleted user 12 August 2009 21:04:08
Its really good, its like the normal game on heat, pretty much every mission you do unlocks new weapons and add ons, no collecting salvage, new weapons, new vehicles, the first story mission I did was better than most in the normal game, which I thought were excellent anyway. Well worth a purchase. You play a whole new character too, its more an add on pack than some DLC. THQ have learned a lot from the Saints Row 2 DLC it seems.
