I don't know... It's probably TES, which fills me with some trepidation. I just didn't 'get' Oblivion (probably my fault not the games'), but I loved Morrowind completely.

    So, I guess if it's a Morrowind-esque TES, then I'm all ears.

Haven't played any KOTOR. Worth getting on Backwards Compatbility? I've been wondering about it for a while.

Oblivion could have been awesome, but for four things:

    1. "THAT" enemy levelling system

    2. Technical issues (on consoles at least)

    3. Slightly generic world and creatures

    4. "THAT" enemy levelling system

Sort out those things, and I'd love a new ES game to tiny, tiny bits.

They weren't worth getting when they came out so...

Fallout 1 and 2 are far less user-friendly than DA:o, especially in the early stages.

You've got to be hardy and save often. Getting poisioned in the start dungeon in FO2 can mess you up.

I also have to complain about the random loot and compass. The game pointed you in the direction for every single quest in the game, making exploration utterly pointless when combined with the fact random caves/mines/ruins wouldn't contain any rare or powerful artifacts or weapons, it would always be the same random loot, so you may as well just continue on with the main quest.

I also didn't like how condensed the skills were, and how useless many of them were.. things like lockpicking and restoration were worthless because of other skills/items you would get later on.

I'm looking forward to the next Elder Scrolls but I sincerely hope they don't dumb the next one done quite so much.

Yeah, no point exploring a curio you've stumbled upon if there is nothing of note within as a guarantee.

i dont get the kotor 2 hate, it was nearly as good as the first but had probably deeper &more interesting characters. It was a little samey coming out so soon after kotor 1 but it was still a great game

I loved KotOR and KotOR II. Well worth getting, ignore the haters, they're wrong.

We're not wrong. The first was a turd. The second was a buggy turd. Like Ratso said though, atleast the characters in KOTORII were more interesting.

No, you're wrong to say that someone else's opinion is wrong, especially of a game with an average review score of 93-94%.

In my opinion (boldified in case some of you guys don't get it), it's an incredible game, and I prefer it to both Mass Effects (although I admit only just). Combat can get repetitive and there is a lot of wandering (like all Bioware games barring ME2), but other than that it's all gold. KOTOR2 could've been even better if they'd been allowed to finish it, as the story is more interesting.

I'm confused... what exactly is the point of having different opinions if you can't say that someone else's opinion is wrong? If you disagree with someone's opinion, surely you think that it is wrong!

You say your opinion, perhaps with "I disagree" instead, not "you are wrong", which suggests that you think their opinion doesn't matter.

People have a way of stating their opinions (especially on the internet) in such a way that it seems to be saying "anyone who does not agree with me is clearly a fucking idiot as it's self evident I'm right and the thing in question is indeed a big pile of shite!"

    Hence all the annoyed responses...
  • Deleted user 10 February 2010 08:48:20
Don't take it so personally Tingler. You can take it as granted that it's just my opinion. It shouldn't need qualifying with sugar coated language...imo. :)

I realise this is the stock unhelpful reply for console players, but...mods fix those problems. If you have a half decent PC it is worth getting Oblivion again, because there are loads of mods which completely transform it into something worth playing.

I'll be happy if its FO3 just reskinned to be honest. I don't really need a lot of changes, i very much liked the game as it was, although less Starship Zeta, and more Point Lookout on the DLC please.

The problems that I had with Oblivion wouldn't be fixed with mods.

I thought this game was going to be quite different from Fallout 3, possibly even 3rd person; i was excited about that even. But it turns out to be more of a full blown expansion; i dont know if im AS excited. Im still looking forward to this though, as i loved Fallout 3, I put hundreds of hours into it and bought all the DLC. But since the game is using the same engine, i hope they fix a lot of things, the animation and generally poor graphics for one. Dont get me wrong, the graphics were pretty good in Fallout 3, inside buildngs at least- the wasteland looked pretty bad actually.

I guess im going to have to wait till Fallout 4, for a major improvement. Id love to see Fallout 3, with much better graphics (unreal engine possibly?), and tighter gameplay; especially outside of VATS, akin to the major impprovement mass effect 2 has over its original. And in retrospect, yes Fallout has an interesting universe but the actual location in Fallout 3 was pretty bland.... New Vegas shall rectify that aspect at least.

^^ You do know you can play FO3 (and probably this) in 3rd person, don't you?

    Not that anyone would, mind.

Of course i do, but no one can stand the diagonal floating, /shivers. FO3 is primarily a first person shooter.

Edit: when i said i thought New Vegas was going to be 3rd person, i thought maybe it would be redesigned from ground up to be more like KOTOR or Mass Effect.

Ah, fair enough. Agree that FO3 is best as a first-person game.

The only time I ever used 3rd person was to check out how my new armour/hat/sunglasses looked ^_^
