Started Honest Hearts yesterday. Enjoying it much more than Dead Money as it's proper, open exploration. However, despite appearances, I get the sense that there actually isn't much worth exploring. Reckon I'll get this done in another 3 or so hours |

Registered 15 years agoReplaying this too, in order to fire through the different endgames, before making a start on the DLC. Don't know whether to use my current one-woman army lass, or my original Morgan Freeman-esque smooth talking bloke.
At least it's slightly more stable, although the framerate crippling memory leaks are still popping up now and again. *sigh* -

Registered 14 years agoHated the Casino DLC. Linear, repetitive and frustrating.
Really liked Old World Blues, despite its restricted environments. It nails the 50s era B-movie charm with plenty of humour.
The love for Honest Hearts in this thread makes me want to wipe the dust from my copy of NV. -

Registered 17 years agoSaving OWB until I've finished HH. Also done 2 endings of the main game so far, but not all of the side missions. Plan is to finish all the DLC, then the side missions and the rest of he endings

Registered 17 years agoNot got the feel for Caravan either .gif)
Finished Honest Hearts this morning [(spoiler]Both endings) - pretty enjoyable, but I did find the whole space too maze-like and empty of anything particularly interesting.
Better than Dead Money though. Off on holiday for a week, so progress is now on hold

Aye, those are my exact feelings about it too. The canyons were a headache to navigate and I found the NPCs a bit dry and cliched.

There's loads of videos about Caravan on YouTube and whatnot, it took me about 10mins to figure it out after watching some of those. It's ok once you get to grips with it. No Triple Triad mind you....

Registered 14 years agoJust to stand against the crowd, I really liked Dead Money. The feeling of playing it on hardcore with constant health draining, meaning that the environment itself is as hazardous as the things in it, and the occasional forays into the red cloud which you had to plan for in advance because you couldn't just outheal it were what made it fun.
Honest Hearts was, however, a little bit dull, and mostly exists to give you the best all round gun in the game and the second best piece of light armour. -

Survivalist's Rifle (over 500dps with perks and jhp ammo? Yes please) and Joshua Graham's Armour. JG's Armour has +3% critical chance and 15DT for 8 weight, best DT/weight ratio in light armour, and only Ulysses' Duster has better +Crit%. Given the way armour works in New Vegas, giving a flat damage reduction rather than a percentage, it protects you much better against weak enemies, which you generally don't need protecting from anyway, so it's better to have the extra critical chance from Light Touch and the bonuses you can get from Joshua's armour, First Recon Beret, and Ulysses' Duster. That's even before you consider Ratslayer, a weapon which cannot possibly fail to crit with the right build.

A Light Shining in the Darkness is also a solid gun, low AP cost solid damage and x2 crit multiplier. -
I've just this weekend picked this back up after leaving it alone for over a year. I had seemingly broken it on the wild card mission but its finally fixed itself allowing me to progress.
Finally completed it with one ending. I've just realised that there is DLC and I'm considering picking up thw ultimate box for £15 from the hut. Is it worth it ?
Are any of them like the fo3 DLC with a whole other island to explore? -

Registered 13 years agoYes, definitely worth it. Four distinct bits of DLC plus some fixes and bit and pieces. OWB and Lonesome Road are particularly good, but the other two are interesting too. -

Cheers just bought the ultimate edition from the hut. £14.95 delivered. Was a steal compared to practically anywhere else. Only cost £8 after selling the original

I'm loving it all over again ever since it unbroke. Level 27 after 50 hours. Done one ending and I'm just going around now clearing side quests and just generally exploring ... found a Gobi sniper rifle that is just awesome.
Just started this, and after about 10 hours am really impressed, the setting is nicer than fallout 3, less rubble, and the graphics seem sharper. But its the missions and dialogue which stand out. -
Yep, think it's called the Ultimate Edition. -

Didn't they release a game of the year version?
I bought this day one and it was so buggy. It had that frame-rate issue where the longer you played it the worse it would get. They fixed all that though. I'd probably put it above Skyrim. Skyrim is way more polished, but not as funny and this has some fantastic storylines. PS: Yeah, this is better than the original Fallout 3. Sorry, but it is. -
Gonna pick it up in the Steam Christmas sale I reckon (seems like a given it will crop up), picked up Fallout 3 GOTY there last year for cheap. Dunno when I'll go back to them both because I spent so much time playing them before, but I will. -

Good god yes. This thing mullers anything I point it at. I used to have lots of cool stuff in f3 that I haven't found yet Vegas. Loved my ledeux hockey mask, lucky shades, magic 8 ball. Anybody found any of this stuff ?

Started Dead Money last week. Played an hour, and it's put me off going back. Think I'll try the other add-ons. -
Nice edit. I'll look forward to your future findings.
