Registered 13 years agoI love the show, and it hasn't aged a day (politicians are interchangeable anyway)... But BBC News has always been like the Day Today, otherwise it wouldn't have worked in the first place! -

Registered 17 years agoWhat is interesting about that case is how it proceeded to trial when the prosecution decided not to offer any evidence at all against the defendant. I don't really understand how if that were the case the whole thing was not dropped prior to it reaching trial. -

The fuck kinda shite journalism is that. -

Got to feel for the journalists though, I can't imagine that anyone studied journalism for years and got a job in one of the major news organisations to write about what Thatcher is wearing, that would've been a shitty piece to be given when she was in power, but now... -

story picture
Two professional midget wrestlers found dead in a low-rent hotel room may have been drugged by female robbers, according to Mexican authorities.
Post mortems are being carried out on La Parkita - or Little Death - who wore a skeleton costume in the ring and Espectrito Jr.
The twin brothers, real names Alberto and Alejandro Jimenez, reportedly had been entertaining two prostitutes on the night of their deaths.
Police said two women were seen leaving the men's hotel room shortly before the bodies were discovered by a cleaner.
Prosecutor Miguel Angel Mancera said gangs of female robbers are experienced at using drugs to knock men out and rob them but they may have used too strong a dose.
The wrestlers' small stature means they may have succumbed to the drugs more easily, although larger men have also died in similar crimes.
The bodies of the two men, both aged 35, were found at a hotel a short distance from the Arena Mexico wrestling venue inMexico City.
Midget wrestling had a huge following in the 50s and 60s but its popularity has waned across the world.
But the sport is still enormously popular in Mexico and fans are said to be mourning its two most famous stars. -

I can imagine the guys wife asking what he did at work today.
"Did you see the bit in the politics section about what Thatcher was wearing?"

Registered 20 years agoBBC 2 just showed 'The Death of Respect' which dealt with the issues of the breakdown of culture in the UK and the increase in random violent crime in a sensible and non sensationalist way, pointing out the existence of similar levels of overall crime and the sensationalisation of crime statistics by the media.
How does the programme maker advertise his programme? Why, with this sensationalist report: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/8150271.stm
Good documentary by the way. Have to wait until next week to see what suggestions he has, but so far it's a pretty good examination of what's broken, and significantly what isn't broken in our society. Interesting, and highly recommended: it's on iPlayer now.
Also, keep an eye out for 'deep cleavage running through the country', -
I was just watching the local BBC news. It was about a UK teenager who became a radical terrorist.

me too. twice last night, as I repeated it in a Ted Maul-stylee. I can't believe they think they can get away with stuff like that on the BBC. -
Not quite the BBC.
"We completely understand the public's concern about futuristic robots feeding on the human population, but that is not our mission," said Harry Schoell, the chief executive of Cyclone Power Technologies, one of the companies behind the machine.
