A search didn't turn up an mention of this so I thought I'd mention it. I first spotted it on Steam and was rather intrigued by the look of it.

The game seems to involve growing trees which in turn create seedlings which you then use to colonize other asteroids. I'm not sure quite how much 'game' is involved in this but I'm finding it quite enjoyable all the same.

    -edit-

Now with an actual working link...

    :-)

Dyson was designed by EG's very own Haowan iirc...

Yuh, 'tis Haowan's puppy. It's being released on Steam in the near future I believe.

I've come to the conclusion that there aren't nearly enough games about space trees:)

It would probably take less time to download and play the game than it would to watch a trailer. There are some screenshots, though.

Someone tell Hoawan to tell me when it goes on Steam. I'll put a story on VG247 advertising it.

Is there going to be anything different in the Steam release? This is far too addictive and I need more levels :)

(Edit:.. ahem... everyone just ignore Whizzo's poor quoting skills... :) )

    Thanks guys!

    morriss: will do :)

DamonF: because I suck at video editing tools. They all seem to crash on me. Plus, no time. There's a ton of gameplay up on youtube if you look for "dyson gameplay" though.

You can download the demo today at http://www.dyson-game.com/download.php :)

Tremendosaurus: Full release should have a full campaign, some arena challenges, some new game mechanics, and general other improvements, and more music (a full album we hope). Right now you can hack more levels into the game, check out our forum http://www.dyson-game.com/smf/index.php?board=3.0

There's your box quote Haowan :D

    \o/

I'll definitely be getting that! Personally I'd prefer less explanation about what the game actually is about. Somehow I find it more interesting if it's trees and seeds rather than machines.

Well, they could genuinely be either. Once genetic engineering reaches a certain point, distinguishing man-made life forms from AI-based robots will be moot.

I woke up early and cleared the first stage over breakfast... really great stuff, Haowan. Simple but addictive.

Where have you lot been for the last six months? :-D

Dyson is fucking awesome. I feel obliged to buy the commercial version just for the amount of hours I've put into the various free versions up until now.
