June 09 Swapsies/ for sale thread Page 11

With a freebie Microsoft hammer, then into Sony carrier bags for disposal by fly tipping, no doubt.
  • Deleted user 28 June 2009 21:35:05
And with a post count less than frickin 60.

Wish I could piss on your Lara auction somehow, too.

Do some good with it, you may just get some good Karma back.

Oh fuck off, it's no different to the people that sell or swap promo copies. The price is higher, sure, but the item is slightly more rare too.
  • Deleted user 28 June 2009 21:55:27
He has used it to earn money for his shop - for free.

He's been asked not to sell it by SEGA.

And now he's trying to flog it on here.

Very different from a promo games sale/swap and I find it very distasteful. There's much better ways of getting rid of it (as mentioned above)

There have been many other shop owners around these parts, do you see them desperately trying to flog dodgy gear ?

It's not dodgy, it was a freebie. Sega asked him to take the auction down, yes, promo copies have little yellow stips that say "not for resale".

The fact that he's a retailer rather than a reviewer makes no difference, both are paid for something else.

edit: and why does it matter what you think? Other forumites have been interested in the purchase. If you don't want it, shut the fuck up and ignore it.

I just don't see what the issue is. Loads of people sell or trade stuff they got for free. I personally don't like people swapping promos, but I ignore those offers and don't swap for them.

There's no rule that you can't offer this kind of stuff on here, for those that are interested, and people have been. What's the point in giving him a hard time?
  • Deleted user 28 June 2009 22:09:04
Regardless of what people think, although this thread only has a few days to run now, it's getting totally derailed. If you don't like it, say your bit, put the guy on ignore and leave it at that, for the sake of everyone else that actually wants to be able to use this thread for its intended purpose.

A Sega rep. asked us not to sell the big Sonic on ebay because of copyright issues, nothing to do with the statue being a freebie. We get posters, card standees, other freebies all the time because we work with the publishers to promote their games. Helping each other.
They have no problems with us selling freebies after they've served their purpose, that's just a few people on Eurogamer that have issues with what I'm doing. Back to Russia, Comrade.
No big deal, probably keep it myself.
By the way, I've a Tony Montana (Scarface: The World Is Yours) leather office chair to SELL. Anyone want to make me an offer?

Sorry, Kentmonkey, you're dead-right. Thread has gone AWOL.
Anyway, I'm still wanting Super Metroid USA. Anyone got one?
  • Deleted user 28 June 2009 23:58:39
I've got a couple of hundred pirated games* to flog on EG, sure you won't mind huh Kent ? Cos if you do, you can f off and put me on Ignore, that'll solve the problem.

Cos it doesn't matter *What* I want to sell, or how I got hold of it, as long as someone might wanna buy it. Want some crack ?

Swapsies and For Sale should be used by us regular cash strapped gamers to save a few quid and help each other out, not desperate tat wielding shop owners who should be able to afford to advertise their crap or at least flog it in their own bleedin shops. Both of them. Therein lies the thread derailment.

Couldn't even start his own thread !

    *not really
  • Deleted user 29 June 2009 00:04:11
No, you derailed the thread. He put something up for sale, you made a point (a point I actually think was valid) but then continued to make that point. Again. And Again.

And an attempt to get the thread back on track so people could use it for it's intention, with no attack on you, results in a post like that above. Seriously, get a grip, I always thought you were quite level headed, but your moral almost preaching-like posting and aggressiveness over the past few posts is starting to change my opinion.
  • Deleted user 29 June 2009 00:12:05
Fair nuff Kent, it was actually Derbs that got me riled, you were just in the firing line. I shouldn't get so pissed off, just hate to see someone ripping the piss out of EGers and trying to take advantage.

    Line drawn, moving on.
  • Deleted user 29 June 2009 00:12:13
He can sell it if he wants, what a bunch of cunts.
  • Deleted user 29 June 2009 00:15:51
Yeah it's a "for sale thread", let him be.

Would anyone like a Sega Mega Drive Handheld that I bought last year and haven't touched once since the day I took it home all giddy. It is in perfect condition. It is This but in white.
Awesome little toy but I have a PSP, DS and Iphone so can't bring myself to play it.

    £18 including postage?

    Bdaggers

I fully respect your charity thread, but I don't see what the big deal is. He's not breaking any laws. People sell promo gear all the time on here. Just because it doesn't agree with your principles, doesn't mean that it isn't valid. Not everyone can afford to be so charitable.
  • Deleted user 29 June 2009 06:24:52
I've said my piece, and explained my views about the ethics of selling freely obtained goods by retailers. I don't use EG as a money making enterprise for myself - but you lot are quite happy to vocally support that.

    Good luck to you.

Mods - can we have seperate "Swapsies" and "For Sale" threads next month please ?

As the creator of this fine thread I deem (no, not deem...) that anyone should be able to post their items for sale or swap. I find it strange how aggressive some people get, if you are not interested or think the chap is a ... for trying to make a bit of wedge, more power to your elbow, but leave it at that.
On a "swapsies" thread a year or so ago, I dared to try and sell/swap a pro-mo game on it, (I think I wanted £15, the game was prob a week or so old!) one which incidentally I bought from an EGer, well you would have thought I murdered babies, by the level of abuse I got my some Egers. I wish I could locate the thread, as it was just totally ridiculous and rather like this months thread, got derailed into a bit of a slanging match.
There is no need whatsoever for a separate Swapsies/for sale thread btw, but bdaggers you could create both.

Just put the price down on GOW2 ltd edition box set, page 1 first post.

object price = value purchaser puts on said object

I once forked out a massive wadge of cash for a framed Manics autograph thing for my other half. I bet that cost fuck all bar the cost of the frame but it instantly has a price on it for those who desire it. Its how collectables work.

My attention glands approve of these recent posts!

haveasafeday got in touch quick sharp by pm so I've offered it to him first.

ebay rates seem to be between £30 and £50 for a boxed NES, and I've kept my "most wanted" and "game collection" profile sections up to date as a guide to any potential swapsies. It's at least 2nd hand but is in great condition and has been kept safely boxed up for the last 2 years.

If hasd isn't made a happy man in due course I'll let you know :)
  • Deleted user 29 June 2009 23:47:56
I've gotta pull out as money is tighter than a duck's arse and I haven't got anything on your list, so if hasd pulls out, looks like it's efeilguy stepping into the breach.
  • Deleted user 30 June 2009 00:26:25
I think I'll be echoing kentmonkey's sentiments and have to decline the offer. I do have a couple of ps3 games to swap but not the big bucks you're asking for. I was hoping you wouldn't be clued up and would only ask for 10 pounds and a high five.
