As for being able to turn one way better than the other, I see the same thing. I'm better at turning left as well.
Wasn't it Troy Bayliss who lost a bollock in a motorcycle crash, and claimed afterwards that he got into corners on the 'missing' side better without it? Maybe give that a shot

Bike back from the garage, had my 3rd/4th regulator rectifier replaced. Looked like the plug went pop again so I was lucky not to have flames from the tail unit like last time. Garage seemed to think the generator was the issue previously which was replaced so I dunno why I'm still going through these things. Good clean later and then I think I'm gonna throw it straight onto eBay and be glad to see the back of it

I'll pass on that and just clumsily make my way through the right handers. It's fine on normal corners. Just hairpins were awkward.

About 4 years now I think. Ive had it up for sale in a couple of places for a few weeks now so this most recent breakdown will probably force me to make a bit more effort selling it on.

Just got the ninja serviced, new battery, MOT, and a full valet. They did an awesome job, looked brand new (and it's ten years old!)

Of course, I had to ride it back in the rain.

    Fucking shitty british weather.

Thinking of get a bike to make getting to/from work at stupid hours easier. When staying at my girlfriend's though, I'm only going to be able to park it in the street (central London). Even after putting a bilion locks etc on it, am I just asking to have it stolen?

Appreciate this might be a strange question for me to ask. :p

Nah. Trick is just to make sure the bike next to you is more likely to be stolen than yours. You do this two ways.

Dont have a flash looking bike, so they steal the R1 next to it instead.

Have more security (a proper abus d lock / disk lock, not some oxford shit) that means they would rather cut the chain of that shitty scooter in 20 seconds than spend 2 minutes angle grinding yours.

Cheers, that's pretty much what I thought. I've seen how brazen some of these shits can be though. Having to spend 5 minutes cutting a chain in broad daylight doesn't bother them.

@elstoof Just reading through the thread and seen you've just gone from no experience to full licence. How did you find it? I'm probably just going to do the cbt and get a 125 for a little bit, but I am intrigued by the thought of doing a direct access course.

Surely they could just park up a flatbed and shove your bike on the back and deal with the lock somewhere else?

Hence I chain mine to a pole near work.

But realistically the flatbed stuff is home thefts where they go in and get out. On streets during the day they tend to assume the bike (and the scooters they arrive on) are the escaped plan if cops arrive. Turning up in a van doesn't give you the same escape.

Also the van stuff tends to be high end bikes where they case your place, check under your bike cover etc and actually plan the robbery.

    Or so I understand.

I found it great fun getting my licence, didnít bother with a 125 as youíll realise on your CBT that they arenít much fun and youíre quite vulnerable. Thereís a couple of ways of doing your DAS, some schools have a week long intense thing but the one I did was flexible so I had a day training, then talked with my instructor and decided to book one more day training the day before Mod1. The man again for Mod2, get a day in before hitting the test. Worked for me, passed them both first time, other guys I was with needed more lessons. Itís an expensive process, probably 800 quid for the full licence all in if you get passed first time, totally worth it. Biking is awesome fun.

Youíre a copper, right? Surely you can get out with some of the police bikers, they usually run all the advanced riding courses anyway

Cheers. I'll give it some thought and see how I get on the CBT on Monday. I'm sure you're right and I'll very quickly get fed up with a 125, but I'm also looking to get riding quite quickly and not sure the extra time and cost is really what I need right now. Good shout on tapping up some job bikers though. Will ask around. :)

Well, the time has come to start looking at a new bike.

Currently own a Yamaha MT-09 (2017 model). Options are:

    1. Write them a cheque and keep it
    2. Just get another MT-09
    3. Get something else.

I kind of feel like getting something else for a change, bu the MT-09 is soooooo goooooood I wonder if I should just keep it.

    Whatcha think guys?

Do you want to stick with naked or a different kind of bike entirely

I'll take a look at the Honda, and the Triumph is definitely in scope too.

As for naked/faired, I've always been a 'naked' guy... But I was looking a... Hyabusa (god knows why!), and someone here (I forget who) bought a Ducati and it made me think, why not a Panigale, or a VFR.

I've gone very '90s for some reason, and fairing.

Had my heart set on a 2015 S100RR but I'm looking at the Aprilia RSV4 since I'm a little less bothered about practicalities knowing my next bike wont be used for commuting unless the sun is blazing and it's a nice day. Looking for something with a bit more character I think. Anyone own or ridden one in the past? Booked my GSXR in for one more deep clean(again) before I put it up for sale. Can't wait for something new(ish).

    So I've 'done the maths'.

My bike is on the open market for £6k+, and for me to 'own' the bike (i.e. the balloon payment) it's £3.6k.

So I'm better off writing them a cheque and keeping the bike, or sell it myself and pocket the difference. This is what I'm going to do, while I think about what I'm going to do.
