I'll be hopefully be saying goodbye to my Gixxer in a couple of hours if all things goes well with my sale. Enjoyed my 5 or so years with her.

Edit* And she's gone. Think the fella was here barely ten minutes. Turned the bike over the 30 seconds and that was it. Didn't even want a test ride

Edit* I definitely jinxed things posting the above. Got a call from the guy who was at a service station out of town, fuel cap lock fucked itself, couldn't get it open. AA guy arrives, can't get it open either. I take the bike back off the guy with plans to get the lock fixed tomorrow, 500m down the road as i'm going through the gears, white smoke pouring out the back of the bike. Luckily a kind bloke with a van spotted the massive cloud of smoke and picked me up and took me back into town. I'd be surprised if the engine isn't completely gone.

Turns out it might have mostly been me being a bit heavy handed doing an oil top up the day before! I'm putting the blame on me being a bit hungover and half asleep as I was doing it. Lesson learnt! Hopefully there aren't any other issues that have been missed. Bike is mostly sorted now, just waiting for a new tumbler lock for the fuel tank. The biggest pain in the arse out of all of this is the 150 odd mile trip to Tamworth where the buyer is on Friday.

Yeah you can overfill oil, and it puts too much pressure on the engine doesnt it?

    Bad news either way though.

Just tell them it's normal. I get a cloud of white smoke anytime I set off after it's been stationary more than 24 hours. Especially if it was on the side stand.

(I did come across a lot of comments about this before I bought it and apparently it's considered normal for that bike).

Bike is all sorted now and with it's new owner. Happy that's over and done with before Christmas. The ride down to Tamworth today was probably one of the most horrible journeys I've ever had. Took me about an hour longer than expected because my satnav packed up and I just winged it. Two hours into my train journey back and I'll still cold and damp.

@RyanDS Yeah it's a fair bit more than what I was paying on my GSXR600. Got a few hundred quid off the listed price so that kinda makes up for it.

    Looks bloody lovely.

@elstoof It is. Has an Akra can, carbon hugger and that's it I think. I was holding out for a 2017 bike as it has the auto blipper and nice dash because i'm a tart.

Edit* Might need to save some cash for some rearsets and some bar risers as i'm a tall bloke and it's not gonna be the most comfy bike.

@elstoof It's getting delivered next week. The dealership is a 550 mile round trip so I was happy to pay a few quid for it to be dropped off.

Ugh. Put my bike in a garage around November or December.Remembered to ask for the garage owners to plug in teh battery charger in the first week of Jan.
I went around last night to go pick it up, battery is dead as a doornail, Despite the hooked up charger. :-/

Time for a new battery it seems.

@elstoof Very nice. You can apparently buy those winglets for older RSV4 models. I was mildy interested until I saw the prices(1400 dollars with the brake ducts too).

Bike arrived yesterday! Haven't had a proper go yet! Only turned it around in the road to move it back into my back yard but even then it felt quite intimidating.

@elstoof How was the Monster? I'm kinda eyeing up naked bikes once i'm done with sportsbikes. My Uncle keeps waxing lyrical about the Thruxton he has too which I wouldn't mind a go on.

Had a quick go on the RSV4 to pick up some beers and fill up earlier. Don't think I went over 5-6k but it felt very lively! It definitely gets plenty of looks with how loud it is too. The quickshifter and autoblipper is bloody great. Probably need to figure out how to switch the traction control on mind you.

    Seen that video. Terrifying!

After riding a ped for the last five months I've decided to get a proper bike. Hopefully picking something up next week work and ability to exchange what I have allowing. No more people flagging me down to ask if I'm their Deliveroo!

M821 was really nice - been thinking about a naked bike and kind of narrowed it down to the 821 or Speed Triple. It was the Stealth edition with up/down quickshifter and Termis but I didnít love it like I thought I would. I think basically the engine is too similar to what Iíve got already. I need to test ride the 765RS but I sort of thought that would be what I like the least, more sporty and too similar the 899 while the Monster is a lot more upright - when I parked up after the ride another customer handily parked his striple next to it, the bars are massively higher. I got back on mine after the service and I realised I much prefer the sportier position. Shame, because the 821 is one sexy machine and the noise is fantastic with Termis, just very similar to my existing bike with Termis. Auto blipper was a revelation though

Had a bit more of a rideout during a day off work on Friday and really enjoyed the RSV4. Took it pretty steady as there was a fair bit of single track roads with gravel and farmer's shite but the smooth stuff felt great. It's absolutely nuts how quickly scenery comes at you when you really give it a fistful though. The torque is something else.

I was trying to follow a mate in his old Boxter and he left me for dead around the corners. I think the tires I had on my gixxer knocked all the confidence I had in leaning a bike over. Think i've got Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa's on this so I really shouldn't have any trouble with grip once they're warmed up.
