Just fired up the 500 for only the second time since our last ride out about a year ago.

Started straightaway! We really need to get out on it.

Bike is still a dreamboat. Need a tail tidy to clean up that rear though.

(not pictured is the big lad who did a kickflip and let out a huge fart as we started our bikes)

It's far too quick for the roads around here. 200bhp is completely unnecessary. I don't think i'm going any quicker on the RSV than I was on the GSXR but it's much scarier.

Rode out in the pouring rain today to get bike serviced. Had a moment on a roundabout whilst trying to pull away before next car came round, could feel the back wheel starting to spin/slide. I think I was over a manhole cover or something. Anyway luckily it found grip again, possibly helped by me rapidly closing the throttle.

Also hate those sharp corners where metal covers are always on your exit path.
Ride slow in the rain folks (or get better tyres!).

God that always scares me. Especially as you know there is nothing you can do because by the time you notice the rear has gone it has either self corrected or there is nothing you can do.

I pick this up on Saturday after a 30 minute test ride on the base model sold me on it back in June. Replaces the 1198 that just became a bit of a ballache to use. Can't frickin' wait!

@elstoof Yup! The new(ish) 950SP. I just want a bike I can get on and have a bit of a laugh on, rather than having to go a bazillion mph like my old bike wanted.

Well yeah, there is that. Based on mocks I'm fairly confident that I could pass it now to be honest. Had to take to take various driving/highway code exams over the last few years for work, including one coming up in a couple of weeks, so I'm pretty brushed up at the moment. Just didn't think far enough ahead I guess.

If I do well and time things nicely, I might be treating myself to something shiny for Christmas though. :D

If you can consistently do the online mock websites, you’ll have no dramas on the day

I really like the look of the Honda CB1000R. Anyone with experience of one? I just might be getting it come Autumn.

Jeees. Here I am getting mildly annoyed that my insurance company keeps adding 10 euro to my insurance fee each year. I'm tempted to shop around for next year because I think they're taking the piss.

    It went for my Deauville:
    2010: 164 €
    2011: 174 €
    2012: 184 €
    2013: 194 €
    2014: 201 €
    2015: 211 €
    2016: 222 €
    2017: 228 €
    2018: 235 €

Then I switched to a BMW K1200LT and switched insurance company:
    2019: 233 €
    2020: 241 €

    I'll go count my blessings.

The 3k is just liability or full coverage with theft etc?Sorry, idk the proper British terms for this.

Over here, liability by itself would be something like 100 pounds and full insurance something like 700 pounds.

You’re not making this easy. It’s so sexy. Not very practical, mind, especially compared to my NC700S with its storage compartment which is useful beyond belief.

I always do full insurance so don't actually know just liability.

    In uk it is:
3rd party- cheapest. Insured if someone hits you
3rd party fire and theft- pretty much covered unless it is your fault.
    Fully comprehensive- insured for everything.

Need to get a lockup garage rented to drive the insurance down, had to pay a grand with 0 years no claims, brand new rider for the panigale, scared to think what it would’ve been if it was kept on the road
