There appears to be some sort of growth on your steak. :-)

Not for dinner, obvs, but I felt like giving shokupan a go today. Took a fair while, but it's just come out of the oven.

Cheers, pretty pleased with how it came out (especially given it's the first time I've made bread of any sort). Here's a bit of a close-up of the swirl:

What's with the perspective on the second shot? Is the bun squashed or is your oven 16 foot deep?

I seem to have become a bit of a pickled onion connoisseur, over the last couple of years I've gradually moved on from trying the various supermarket shite and have delved int the local brands available around here, something really quite special about a really good pickled onion, soft, yet crunchy and a good quality vinegar taste, have them with a good strong cheddar and its divine. Have been amassing jars for when I try making them myself, my wife is disgusted by me.

Similar in texture, I guess, but I think this is actually softer. It's not as rich as brioche (no eggs) and not sweet (just 1tsp sugar to help the yeast out). It's basically just a really soft white bread they use for sandwiches in Japan.

Thanks! Really pleased with how it came out.

The one on the left is a little bigger than the rest - I measured the dough out into four equal pieces, but I think I rolled that one tighter and it expanded a bit more in the loaf tin.

This is on top of the oven, as well.

I'm making bread this weekend, the no-knead method. So ridiculously easy, and usually comes out perfect

He fucked Theresa May in the gym toilets whilst a sniffer dog licked his arse. If that's what makes a silver fox nowadays then yes he is.
