Not talking about recommendations for cameras or anything like that, now I've got my new beastie I'd like to get a bit better with it. Can anyone recommend any good links to photography websites dealing with the actual techniques involved in taking a good photo, what all the stuff means (I don't know my SLRs from my ASAs!)

    All suggestions gratefully recommended.

Not what you are after but a usefull site for buying all bits for digital and non digital photography is www.7dayshop.com which I think delivers to the UK only.

They sell anything I have ever thought of - including underwater camera bags for under £30.

    Nice resource...!

Useful stuff there but definitely after the techniques rather than the kit...

That said, if anyone's got a decent 35mm body they wanna sell cheaply..(gets smack around back of head for spending too much again this month)

    Fan.
    Tas.
    Tic.

I wish I'd known such things exist 3 weeks ago when I was swimming with turtles. Minolta do an underwater case for my camers, but at £225 it's a little steep...

Hmm might have to invest as I'll be doing a bit of scuba down in the Cook Islands...

Mind you the weather is going to be shitey in Sept...

I have pimped it several times in the past. Great for dust storms and sand as well.

I must have missed it. Fantastic idea though. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Can I recommend joining your local library? LOADS of photo reference material in the average library and some digital stuff too.

Good plan. Might have to do that when my weekends stop being fucked.

If you are looking for some technical articles and so on, apart from the very good sites recommended already, I would also suggest:

    Luminous Landscape
    Norman Koren's wonderfull site

If you are looking for some inspiration:

    Mark Tucker
    Edward Weston
    Ansel Adams
    Eric Striffler
    Carlos Voss

This site isn't a tips site, but this photographer has a style of his own. A very amusing site.

Cool site! See, that's what I bought a digicam for, that sort of stuff (OK we'll dispense with taking pics of people's arsecracks on the tube!)

    Absolutely brilliant site this, Ruby!

And you could probably do it with the cheapest camera on the market, you just need to see what he sees. :-)
