A friend has just slapped his photos up on the web using Imagevue.

It looks absolutely fantastic. Flash based, but packed full of cool features. It's also very easy to use and automatically resizes photos. So it's really easy to share those photos filling up your HDD.

I just thought I'd point it out seeing as though many people in here are purchasing Digital Cameras.

edit: fixed link - thanks hairy.

Have you got an example of an online iPhoto website?

Looks ok, a little bit over the top if you've just got a random assortment of pictures.

The example albums are very good - the planet earth girls/hey lady picture set was mmm mmmmm.

Nice tip MH! I usually let Photoshop do it for me and on my old site I wrote my own PHP script. Nothing advanced like imagevue though.

Cheers otto. I personally don't think that it's as impressive as the album I linked to.

However, from what I read about iPhoto (when I was searching for an example album) I am quite impressed with the software. I like the way it simply integrates with the camera, and you can quickly and easily publish photos to the web, whilst keeping some albums stored on you HDD.

I think that Apples new logo should be "It just works".

I'm really tempted with the Apple route, and would have one in a shot if I didn't enjoy playing PC games so much. Sure they're more expensive, but I really do think that you're getting value for money.

    /agrees with Mike.

For my work I'd use an apple if they'd let me. For home I'd also use one 'cept I can't be bothered waiting so long for games to appear on it.

Nice software though. If there's one thing Apple are good at it's putting together fantastic applications and machines that do the job you want them to without turning it into a fight.

When I want to do a proper online photosite I'd probably write something quick and painless in Flash to do the work. Like it or lump it, it's a damned good way of putting together a decent photo website (s'long as you remember to turn off Flash's horrible anti-aliasing when you import pics)

Anyway, am the walking wounded when it comes to photography this morning...

Get a refurb iBook, they're only £550 for the 12" model.

Nem's better than me at selling gaming on the Mac. I have all the games I need and more, but then I'm not h4rdc0re like you. ;)
I think selling gaming on the Mac is almost impossible. I'm a *huge* graphics whore, and I love FPS based games.

So if the Mac will never see the likes of HL2, Doom3, and STALKER then I wont be touching it with a bargepole.

However... each time I see that blue screen of death I think "maybe"...

Perhaps I could do a Nem and get a Shuttle PC, spec'd for gaming and then grap a Mac for normal usage (web, surfing, graphic design, photo sharing etc. etc.)

Shuttles are very nice. If you make it down to the stag meet you will want one after seeing mine and Nem's.

Joining this one a bit late, but I use this. It's a nice little java tool that builds up a web album for you.

Actually, I quite like Losty's suggestion. At the moment I have a Sony Vaio laptop and a hulking great PC. When I get some cash I could trade the two in and put the money towards a Shuttle gaming PC and a Mac laptop (iBook or Powerbook I'm not sure).

    Hmm....

That's the one I use. It's great and very customisable. However, it isn't as jaw droppingly impressive as ImageVue (IMHO).

I have my main PC for gaming and always will (unless Microsoft does something special with the Xbox 2), and an Ibook for portability.

I have no problems whatsoever with compatability and OSX software is so good that the PC is now just for gaming.

"jawdropping" Flash tends to morph into "extremely annoying" Flash after five minutes or so. Think I'll let the images speak for themselves instead.
