What game was your first proper game, that made you carry on playing? Yes, your age will be very obvious when you post ;)

Mine was probably C&C Red Alert, then when my parents got our first PC, I got given Age of Empires. Which started me off on a good foot! Baldur's Gate got me into RPGs.

Elite was the game that got me into gaming, I'd played the odd thing here and there, but not seriously.

If I had known back then that it was actually impossible to finish.......
    Nothing would have changed.

My friends all thought Crash Bandicoot was better, but I knew the score

My earliest gaming memories are of the Mega Drive, playing Toy Story with my dad. Good times.

Mario Bros 3 on the NES. I couldn't get past world one on my own at the time. Used to enjoy watching my brother play it though. I must've been 4 or 5 (I was born in '87, no idea when SMB3 came out!)

Space Invaders, in the arcade. Circa 1978. :-/

Seeing a Spectrum running Chequered Flag in 1982 was probably the 'revelation' moment, though - perhaps all this was possible in the comfort of your own home!

The Spectrum version of Manic Miner's not impossible to finish, btw. I used to be able to do it, too. Without cheating.

Think it might have been Elite. Can't remember what I used to play it on though.
