Another reason why it's a shit Major is that the BBC cameramen can't track a golf ball to save their lives, for some reason, during this tournament.

Rory in a spot of bother, Sergio hanging onto his coattails still.

Sergio is a big bottler too. Should make it interesting indeed.

Just a piss? That's a shame. I thought Garcia went all Buzz Aldrin on a spectator.

Spectators were pretty badly behaved for golf to be honest. Most just took photos regardless and told the marshals where to go

Lots were there for a piss up day out rather than the golf

Looks like the conditions are good this morning, should see some low scores. I have Streb @ 200/1 on an EW bet - he's started well at -2

The weather will definitely be a factor at some point though

Tomorrow is meant to be awful for the early starters, but unfortunately Spieth is out late. I've backed DJ, who is out with Jordan today and tomorrow, so at least has the same conditions to contend with.

DJ has a massive chance. They always say a 'bomber' wins at St Andrews and he's in that category

    He loves links golf too

Lawrie loving it too. Wind is definitely getting up tomorrow though, so today's the day...

What a final day this is shaping up to be, Dunne leading the way as an amateur and a billion players within a couple of shots!

Can't believe an amateur is leading. This is a weird open. Get the bloody wind blowing properly.

@Gregolution Justin rose was leading as an amateur years ago. I think if you did win as an amateur then you receive fuck all in prize money.

Yeah haha how bad would that be. All that money you'll always know you could have won...
  • Deleted user 19 July 2015 21:02:43
You'd still get made for life. Ten year exemption invites to majors and five on the PGA Tour, with all the sponsor money (assuming, as Rose did, you'd go pro the week after) that brings.

Prize money is big, but not compared with the sponsorship you'd net as the first amateur in 80 odd years to win one.

    @PES_Fanboy

yeah it's a fair point. He'd dine out on the 'first amateur since Bobby Jones' for a long time.

Also wouldn't be surprised if he really struggled to make the cut in any one of the tournaments he entered during his exemption.

Also, he's clearly not going to win. Spieth or Day surely.

Guy at work will win 4000 on a 40 accumulator if Speith wins.
