Except for the god-damned adverts that invade your screen.

I suppose that I am in the 'tenner a month is a bit much' category, but two thoughts keep occurring to me:

    1. when I was in 6th form I would think nothing of spending 10-20 a week on CDs. ( /stares at unopened crate of CDs under bed)

    2. Loads of fuckwits pay £30-50 a month for Sky. Surely Spotify must have a viable business model?

I'm thinking along these lines too. I still buy CDs, so I reckon a subscription to this is less than 1.5 CDs a month (not including import/rare stuff).

If they could market this at the general public, say £5 a month subscription, it would just be something on top of TV/internet/phone.

    I'm definitely thinking about it.....

I have used it as a premium user in the past and I have to say It is worth it if you listen to music a lot and like discovering new music.

The desktop app is also very nicely done. Easy access to band bios etc.

Worth a tenner in my books.

A fiver yes; a tenner no. Simple as really.

Oops, just realise that it's not actually 27th anymore.

    Nothing to see here.

Personally, I'd love an iPhone now. Spotify is all kinds of immense.

So... where is it? Not on the App Store. I thought approval = entry to app store?

I remember reading you could cache up to 3hrs of music or so.

Wonder if Spotify will make the Irish Store. Free and Day Options on the website aren't available here, but €10/month Premium seems to be (typical!).

    Is Spotify worth €10/month?

I'll be paying the tenner a month. It will save me money in the long run and I get to listen to music I would never even think of buying. It's a bargain ;-)

Isn't it probably a few days away yet?

At least until after the weekend?

I thought once it was submitted to Apple, that was that. Either next stop Rejection City or App Store. Didn't realise you could be approved and then decide not to go live.

@The_escapist, if you could get someone to create an account for you in the UK (or somewhere its free) and occasionally log you on, then you can 'travel' for 14 days using the free service. Its what I did before I got a VPN account.

Edit: Btw, thats for a PC account..not sure how the Apple store apps work.

That's annoying. You'd think UK & Ireland would just get lumped in together as one, like with everything else.

It's down to IMRO, they're obviously dragged their heals with the licensing. Same reason the Last.fm app isn't available on the Irish store. Works perfectly on my jailbroken 3GS though. I'm pretty sure I'll be signing up for the subscription service once I have a chance to play around with the app

So when are they going to release the fricking thing then? Thought it would be downloadable by now :-(
  • Deleted user 3 September 2009 13:56:31
Yeah I don't get why you'd submit for approval by Apple something that evidently isn't actually ready. Weird.

They said something on the BBC news item about having to scale up their servers to cope with the expected demand, but even so just release the god damn thing!
  • Deleted user 3 September 2009 14:18:15
If that's the case, which makes sense, why would you want them to release it if the servers aren't ready? All that will happen is that everyone will moan endlessly about how it doesn't work and why didn't they wait until they were ready before releasing it - and I bet you'd be one of 'em! ;)
  • Deleted user 3 September 2009 14:20:57
Yeah they'd lose a lot of money if they released without being ready.

I wish this was available for free with adverts rather than just the premium version.
