Oh, I do. Can I? I find enabling the screen during shooting distracting, but I may give it a go. I tend to find trial and error adequate a lot of the time though.

I don't think it's an Americanism, it's too recent for that, these days neologisms tend to be global from the outset, especially tech ones.

Who knows, but just because it's recent doesn't mean it's not an Americanism ;-)

I've only ever really seen it in US based sites & articles and it's been around for a while, over 5 years at least I'd say. But maybe it is really common and I've just been missing it.

Don't know of that many actually, you can find all the info you'd ever need online anyway. I bought Charlie Waite's The Making of Landscape Photographs a couple of years ago. It's kind of interesting, as he points out what he got wrong in a lot of the images, but it's nothing you wouldn't work out on your own or could learn online. On the other hand you can get it for £1.52 second hand on amazon, so it's probably worth a look for that price ;-)

I'd suggest you just look at landscape photos & work out what you like, then go take some photos...

I just wonder if something like this needs post processing or if it's doable straight in the camera (so to speak).

Any good places for noobs on-line?

I would put money on that photo having been done digitally, although you can achieve very similar effects in camera with gradiated filters, and fill in flash if you know what you're doing.

I think it's either a blend of multiple exposures or they've done a LOT of localised work on the levels. My money would be on it being a blend....

It's the road markings - they look way brighter than you'd expect based on the amount of sunlight. Plus the lighting on the road surface is flat compared to thye strong directional light from the sunset. So maybe using a flash would have done it....
