Except the time I paid £60 for SF2 Turbo on the MegaDrive (which I still have).
SF2 Turbo on the MegaDrive? Either your memories are implanted or you are part of a complex and sinister conspiracy involving the defamation of Special Reserve at Eurogamer! WHICH IS IT?
SF2 was on the megadrive late in its day...what's this conspiracy? Tell me tell me :- -

Registered 14 years agoGosh, I remember this, I was a member when I was 14-16, I remember receiving C&C Red Alert before its release date and being a legend at school for a couple of days because of it. -

Registered 14 years agoYeah that's right. Maybe you'll be glad to hear he is still alive and well, and writing for a prominent name in the entertainment industry... Did you go on the forum? What was your username?
PenguinJim - quite right, it was the CE but I think it had the turbo options, so you could speed it right up if you're into selfharm (once you reached Sagat it was controller-snapping time anyway, that fucker). -
Another Special Reserve member here. Used to buy everything from them way back when.
Luckily I had nothing on order when they went bust. -

I was Fosco on the forum. And I'm still writing for Snuggly and his prominent name; in fact I owe him 600 words by Monday! (: s) -

Registered 17 years agoAbsolutely.
Just remembered my favourite SR-related story.
When you pre-ordered you had to pay the full price of the game immediately (as mentioned previously).
When the company failed, more than 50 people had pre-ordered and paid for Duke Nukem Forever.

Registered 18 years agoSo we're all fawning over a company that...actually ended up ripping off a load of innocent customers?
They sound like complete bastards! :-o
Anyway - 'One Step Beyond' in Norwich was where the REALLY cool kids went for their gaming fix. -

Registered 12 years agoI didn't realise so many people were former members of special reserve! I used to get all my games from them - their back catalogue was fairly decent and their prices were much better than the high street. Plus, when you renewed you got a free cheapo N64 controller. WIN! -

Registered 14 years agoI got Ace Combat 4 as a prize once, but they sent me 2 copies. Both went on Amazon Marketplace for £25 a pop.
In the end they were probably giving away more than they sold. There's a facebook group for all this: http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=5940987059&ref=ts -

Registered 12 years agoI used to buy loads of stuff from them for my Amiga. I remember at the time most games that were £25 in the high street shops were about £17 mail order from them. I got all my Leisure Suit Larry titles from them (I liked them back then), Monkey Island 1 & 2 etc. I think I even ordered my N64 with Mario 64 and Killer Instinct Gold from them. I never used the site though. -

God.... yeah I remember SR dropping out of the back of Amiga Power a few times so very many moons ago. Those were the days
