It mystifies me that people hate this movie so much.

Still can't believe that black guy fucked the captain. That came out of nowhere.

What bugged me was that the planet had no atmosphere or very little, but inside the pyramid or structure or whatever there was breathable air. While there's clearly holes in the structure. That not how physics work.

I think it's a great film and don't why people are so insistent on poking holes in it. You can do this with any film.

You can do this with any Lindelof film.

I love how the defense is 'other films do have plotholes.'

It's a good looking and sounding nonsensical hodge podge.

If you like it that's fair enough but you do so in the face of some glaring problems.

The reason why people are tougher on it than other films is because the mistakes in it are so incredibly dumb. Other films have plot holes for convenience and because it's hard to avoid them, for whatever reason. This has idiotic moment after idiotic moment for absolutely no discernible reason - for most of them there's an obvious, trivial fix. It should have been so much better (and no it's not a great film, sorry. You're just wrong).

I just didn't like how we've already had like 4 films ( I suppose you could also count the Vs Predator movies) about the Aliens and there pretty well established and then they go and make a prequel set in the same universe and start changing shit up about them.

I guess the argument is we've had a lot of films about them but we have no idea where they came from (assuming, of course, they were a biological weapon created by another race and not just how life evolved naturally).

I'm quite happy to learn about their creation tbh.

I meant more specifically about how the Aliens are and produce/reproduce (is that even the right word for how the Aliens are made?) they even changed that. The face huggers are now Octopuses and they managed to make the Alien itself look even shitter. That along with all the other nitpicks about the story itself just made it all a bit shonky for me.

I think the film get's ripped on probably more than it should though. It had promise and I still enjoyed it as a whole. And if they get it right a sequel could be brilliant.

My (possibly too forgiving and optimistic) view on that was that the Alien we know is just one type of Alien, and it comes from a whole species family. The ones in prometheus are just a different species: like one kind of monkey compared to another.

Nothing to base this on and I think I'm just desperately trying to pre-empt justifying ending up seeing prom 2.

The more they explain about the alien, the more dull it becomes. Aliens got away with turning them into bugs because it was such a good action film but each new bit of information detracts from their appeal.

I'll either watch this tonight, or take up knitting for the first time ever and see what the fuss is about.

This seems as good a place as any to ask this question:

Where's a good place to start with graphic novels set in this universe?

What do you mean, "*They* cut the power"? How could they cut the power, man? They're animals!
