Utterly positive, I've used it virtually every day since I got it, 15 months ago. If I have a complaint at all, it's that I should have got the 30 gigger, as my collection doesn't quite fit on the 15 gig one I bought. I think you'd be very well advised to go with the 3G one, it's a beautiful design, very small and compact, and I have no complaints about the battery life. The 4G will probably be slightly smaller, with larger capacity, and apparently with better battery life, which is all good, but if you can't wait for four months then you won't regret going with the 3G now. It's not that different.

It's very simple - it's a touch sensitive circle, holding the 'pod in your hand you can use your thumb to move around the circle, clockwise scrolls down, anticlockwise scrolls up. In the centre of the circle is a touch sensitive button which selects. So you scroll with the wheel, and select with the button. Then there are four more touch sensitive buttons above the scroll wheel - rewind, menu, play/pause, forward. It's incredibly intuitive.

BBC story with more details and a picture - doesn't look hugely different (it's on the front cover of Newsweek).

Any mention of what the $299 pricetag for the 20GB model will translate to here in the UK?
No, but count on it being a good 50% more than the official exchange rate.
