That review compared The Mist to the The Thing, it should be shot. -

Kurosawa in space
Boring film student bit: It's based loosely on aspects of The Hidden Fortress (the droids are based on the two bickering peasants), but with Lucas' own '50s teen coming-of-age stuff, as per American Graffiti. -

It was mentioned in the same breath as Kurosawa. My favourite film studies essay was an analysis of a ten-minute segment of Evil Dead 2. I ended up lending my tutor the video and he loved it. -

Glad it's not just me, it's slow, badly optimized and fucking awful to search for content. -

It's Andrew Lincoln, Egg from This Life. I was surprised to hear the writer talking about how perfect he was for the role, but then I cannot imagine him doing an American accent at all, he must have been good to get the role as he is un-known in the US.
How will us UK folks watch this btw? -

Registered 13 years agoI was relying on good old Ninjavideo the site I have watched most US Tv with in the past, such as the last four seasons of Lost.
Sadly their government seems to have decided that it (and lots of other sites like it) streaming all the films and TV ever for free on the internet was a little bit illegal and has shut them down.
Bugger. -

I prefer them to actually torrenting since that new law makes me a bit suspicious of using Pirate Bay too much anymore. -

Looks great. My only concern now is how long I should wait before I start watching it. Wait for the first season to end? Do it american pace? I just love being able to whack another episode on straight after I watched one.
Being limited to one each week is so 1980. -

Registered 18 years agoFinished book 11 yesterday. Really good. I wonder how they will handle the nastier stuff on the TV show. It certainly ain't some family show. -

Registered 12 years agoI don't think they'll pull many punches. AMC do Mad Men and that's a fairly mature show thematically, and recently featured a foot being fairly graphically sliced up by a lawnmower. Lots of blood everywhere. So... yeah.
I don't expect them to follow the storylines in the books too religiously, though. Darabont alluded to that in the clip. -

Registered 18 years agoI'm more worried about the harshness of the comics. They are really grim. Will epople really want to watch that? -
Yes. Geek power will overcome all here.
AMC also do Breaking Bad which is pretty gritty stuff.
