Konami announced today it is bringing its classic GTI Club racing franchise to Wii in spring 2010.

GTI Club Supermini Festa! is based on the latest arcade iteration of the long-running series, and will see players racing a series of compact cars around a series of cityscapes across France, the UK, Italy, the US, and Japan.

In GTI Club control is everything, and the Wii game promises to offer beautifully balanced control systems that allow users to slide deftly around corners, whiz through extremely tight alleyways to bypass the other cars, and perform handbrake turns to shave vital seconds from lap times.

In addition to the twelve cars from the arcade version, Konami is planning to add four more licensed cars to the mix, each offering different handling and acceleration balance.

GTI Club Supermini Festa! features two solo modes: Arcade offers a straight replication of the coin-op, while the new GTI Quest is a tour of the world, with a series of key objectives. Multi-player elements will also be included, with the arcade game’s four-player mode faithfully recreated via a split-screen mode and online via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Other game types, including Bomb Tag and football will also be available.

Players will also be able to add a personal touch to their car via extensive customisation features in the game’s Garage section.

Wonder if Sumo Digital is developing it.

ok, last thing from the ps3 I was interested in that hasn't already gone to psp is coming to Wii. Nice.

Official website of the arcade version with all cars, courses and a few movies. Unlike GTI Club+ for the PS3 which only has a single course and five cars this appears to be a proper conversion.

clearly not a WiiWare game, hehe.

The arcade version hardware about matches the capabilities and performance of the graphics chip in the Wii. That should also make a 1:1 conversion graphically possible. Very good news.

    Proof or it didn't happen.

I played the arcade version, it ran at 30fps, which just wasn't acceptable. Hoping for 60fps from the Wii version. They need to convert Action Deka next, too - that game basically uses two unwieldy wii style controllers.

Looking at that S16 page, it's no surprise that Winning Eleven arcade has so much slowdown :p

I somewhat agree that 60fps gives this great arcade feeling but 30fps isn't all that bad; The PGR games for example are also only 30fps, look and (far more important) play absolutely fantastic.

I'm looking forward to this - I do like my racing games.

    It could turn out excellent.

One of those games that probably look better in motion :)

    That's what I hope.

PGR does run at 30, but it polls the controller at 60, has motion blur and doesn't have as many sudden direction changes as GTI Club. I was really disappointed when I played it, even though it has some good ideas, like the way the track layout changes with each lap.

I really hate the spinning animation

Wait. Hold the phone. It says Wii and PSP at the end of the video.

So this was released last week, with no reviews by any major magazine or website. Probably for the best.

A bit unusual for a Wii game.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced it will release specific custom DLC to coincide with the release of GTI Club Supermini Festa! for Wii on March 25th.

The publisher will release a special custom paint job for use on the game’s MINI Cooper S, ABARTH 500, VOLKSWAGEN Polo GTI and PEUGEOT 207 GTi vehicles. Owners of GTI Club Supermini Festa! can access this exclusive DLC via the Wii’s online capabilities. Users simply join the ‘Ranking’ option and the data will be downloaded for free. It will be available to all cars currently unlocked and stored in the game’s Garage location.

Wait, this is out? What's up with Konami and not pushing anything - Tornado Outbreak last year and now this? Nothing on GAME's online site about it. If they're not stocking it, that's surely not a good sign - even Tornado Outbreak got picked up by them.

Well, I think I need to see reviews in languages I can read before passing final judgement...

Was reviewd in GamesTM but didnt fair well. Shame as I love the original. Apperently padded out with loads of rubbish mini games you have to play through to unlock the main racing parts for arcade mode.

Shame. I'll stick with Excite Truck, Mario Kart and the unusually unnoticed and underrated NFS: Nitro for Wii racing fun.

Had hoped this would be a good 'un though. :(

Yeah, if this one isn't all that then I may reconsider passing on Need for Speed Nitro. My only pure-play racing game presently is Excite Bots, though that is quite a nice one.
