Is the case normal width because it sounds like an office pc, Iíve had HP pcís that donít even have room for a normal gpu. Otherwise youíre probably looking at a second hand 1050ti or 1060. For the ram youíll have to check if it needs ddr3 or ddr4.

I'd say leave the RAM for now, 8gig is still fine in most cases especially for a budget rig.

Case - whatever really, eg Fractal design Focus G is £47
    https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/ZHmxFT/fractal-design-focus-g-black-atx-mid-tower-case-fd-ca-focus-bk-w
    SSD - Samsung 250GB - £53
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Solid-State-MZ-76E250B-EU/dp/B078WQJXNF/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1542278905&sr=1-2&keywords=samsung+250gb+ssd
PSU - I'm out of contact with but this should be fine - £70
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019NWRUXK/?tag=pcp0f-21

Now you can probably get all the above slightly cheaper on black Friday or from sites other than amazon according to uk.pcpartpicker.

That leaves £130 for a GPU. Which is 1050Ti, something like this, or dip into Ebay for a used card, usually they are fine, i have one in my family room PC that i use for FIFA and destiny 2 @ 1080p

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-Geforce-GeForce-GTX1050-Graphic/dp/B01M360WG6/ref=sr_1_15?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1542278975&sr=1-15&keywords=1050ti

    Thanks nerds.

I'm leaving the case, fuck doing all the cables again. I'm not sure yet if it's a small form case or not, I get it tomorrow but with Colored Friday being tomorrow I wanted to get some ducks lined up

If your head has HDMI built in you can plug it directly to your brain.

Joking aside, the work PCs normally won't fit a normal sized GPU so you might be SOL if you don't want a new case.

Check out the psu it has, it wonít have the cables you need for a gpu, but Iíve seen cases, again from Hp, that have a proprietary psu form factor, and even proprietary motherboard connectors, so you canít even switch to a normal psu.

It will have the proprietary power cable so I've got an adapter ordered for a new PSU.

I believe the case, even if small factor, can fit certain graphics cards. If not, fuck it. I can't be arsed to change the case and all the aftermarket ones look like Essex boy racers have been at them

If it doesnít have RGB fans itís not really a gaming pc anyways.

I've got a MSI x470 gaming plus motherboard that I need a cpu for, not to fussed on the best cpu. Seen a Ryzen 1600x for £130 and the basics of it being 4ghz and 6 cores will do me fine until gen 3 or 4 ryzen firmware updates. Would like a 8 core but I'm just gaming in 1080p in 21:9 but for some reason 4ghz just sounds better than gen 2 at 3.4ghz for £145

Grabbed some ram already, hope it's fine but any issues online seem to be 300 series motherboards.

The 1600x can be overclocked to 4Ghz if you get good silicon but the same can be said for the 2600. The 1600x doesnít have an all-core turbo of 4Ghz.

Cheers, I see posts about winning the silicon lottery now so fuck it I'll go for one and see how it does.

My MSI X470 board has a gaming mode in bios, turns the 1600x into 3.8ghz with 1.35v, not tried to do it manually and probably wont. I'll use the boost mode rarely and just happy to be up and running with plenty of room to upgrade for next 4 or 5 years.

    £130 - Ryzen 5 1600x
    £115 - MSI X470 GAMING PLUS
    £109 - Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB DDR4 3000 MHz x 1
    £43 - Aerocool Integrator 700W Power Supply

Had a nice case I bought a few months ago and put my GTX 1050ti in while I go about picking a new card.

I'm just a 6pin power lead short of having my old pc back up and running with a 750ti and in the old case, Media pc for upstairs or coop pc for old games I can see it being used for.

You've made an error there with only 1 stick of ram. The memory will be running at half the bandwidth. You need a pair, ie 2x8gb.

@Rodpad Are you sure? Half performance is a bit much, most I can find online was people reporting 4-10% on most games. Its the budget thread also so getting it working was main priority.

Half bandwidth on the RAM 100%.

Gaming performance will vary depending on the title.

You're introducing a bottleneck for no reason. Ryzen chips are well known to perform much better with faster RAM too.

    Sorry.

Every benchmark I've seen shows a performance increase of roughly 0,5% with dual channel RAM.

    I wouldn't be too worried.

Dual channel! Get two sticks please. Video card either RTX 2070 or Vega 56 as a cheaper option.

Hehe, yeah would love to but I'm unemplyed from 1st Jan so no rush but it is planned to get up to 32GB and a future gen Ryzen chip.

Knocks the socks off my fx 6 and 8gb of 1600mhz ram so dont fret.

    Why do you need 32GB?

16GB is plenty for gaming, streaming and home office.

You'll literally never see memory consumption above 16GB.

You're not going to need 32GB. Even at work as an IT Manager with over 50 windows open on a bad day, 16GB is plenty.

You're stuck in single channel with that setup, 700W is overkill, the 1600X isn't good for gaming and the 1050Ti is awful.

You could have got an Intel 6 core i5-8400 and a Z370 motherboard for the same price, which would have been better than the Ryzen 1600X for gaming.

I don't mean to piss on your fire, however the thread is about budget gaming PC hardware, not just whatever's cheap and configured incorrectly.
