Dunno why, but i've only just realised something :

My PS4 copy of FIFA 15, which came from Simpy Games, only has Messi on the front. We were told before release that Messi and Hazard would be on the cover of the UK copy of the game.

This isn't me complaining because i can't see Eden Hazard's delightful buzzcut.....this is me complaining because, technically, it doesn't look like its a PAL/UK copy of the game, probably from the Channel Islands?

The only reason i complain is because i know places like Game won't take games like this as trade-ins.

    Cunts.

Same happens with buying games from TheGameCollection. Cheap prices but results on you getting some European copy that is in English, with the likely chance you won't be able to trade it in.

Are this lot any good these days with getting new games to you the day before release date?

I've only used them a few times, but they've been great so far, always arrived before the release date.

They are currently pre-ordering PC serials for Far Cry 4 and Ass' Creed Unity for £27.99, rather than the low low uPlay price of £50.

Based on my post at the top of the page, i have stopped using them.

Their service is excellent - if a game is coming out tuesday the odds are you'll get it the friday before. If a game is out friday you'll get it tuesday/wedneday.

However, the fact that they send non-UK copies is the stumbling block for me. When i'm done with a game, 9 times out of 10 i'll trade it in. However, no Game shops will take their games because their non-UK copies and i'm stuck with a game i don't want anymore.

Easily chav solution to the above quandries - swap your dodgy Euro box for one off of Game/CEX's shop floor.

CEX change the rules for what they will and won't accept on a daily basis predicated on the capriciousness/cuntishness of the manager of the shop in question, so I feel no moral compunctions about the above.

    Ta. Early deliveries, etc?

Also, do they actually send out UK copies, or are they from another region? Not that it matters all that much really, but I remember there being one retailer out there that sends out multi-language copies - I can't remember who it was, but I got one for Alien Isolation...

@Ror most times I've used them I get the game two days early and most times it an English language version but not the one off the high street. I always have to trade them in at cex.

@-Amelia Ta. Was looking at Skyrim, but just decided to go with ShopTo as they're a quid cheaper for me (it's going to be an expensive week, don't judge me!).

That's bloody early for sending out Titanfall though.

Crap for me. Mafia 3 was late.
Bought it from Asda on the day of release instead and sent the simply one back.

And Simplygames are now crap. Preordered World of Final Fantasy Day 1 edition as they were cheapest at the time and despite them managing to deal with a payment change in an awkward but managable manner the game arrives. Open shrinkwrap, look for DLC code... Missing... Check cover, no Day 1 edition stripe... Not amused as I shouldn't have had to have noticed this an I expect a fight from them with it being opened too... Since the preorder they mysteriously switched the page to not mention the Day 1 edition at some point so got some shitty European standard edition.

If it comes to it they can be chargebacked but hopefully they will resolve this but I fear they will use the opening as an excuse and the product is pretty worthless now as the JP dub (which isn't currwntly on store) is the main reason I preordered rather than waited.

Lovely finish to an evening :(

@One_Vurfed_Gwrx they're on twitter. You should make a noise on there, it brings more attention, public and all that.

Well they have sent an apology email and offered either a full refund if I send it back or 3 quid voucher if I keep it. Gonna cost me postage though... I don't think the DLC is buyable on the store either.

Gonna cost me postage back though although I have emailed to see if I can get that refunded too.

Edit - Never used or signed up for Twitter so that avenue is out of reach.

Edit 2 - fast response that they will refund my shipping to them cost too so seem to be dealing with the problem. Forgot to mention that apparently most they sent out were day 1 but a few standard appeared and they ran out of Day 1s...

These things go in cycles, Shopto was best, then Simply, now it seems Shopto are back in vogue.

I'm done with SimplyGames. Too hit or miss for me, if I pre-order I want it on launch day, not 4 days after. Amazon it is in future...

UPDATE: It's monday evening, Skyrim dispatched on thurs morn, still don't have it

I got it before launch day just the wrong edition, looking around inline it seems the day 1 edition on ps4 was undersupplied as very few places still have it in stock so likely Square's fault. We did bitch at them but they were useless ;)

Generally I don't mind a game being a bit late as long as I get what I ordered. I usually only preorder Vita stuff (risk of scarcity) and my US 3DS stuff (mostly RPGs and a few more obscure things) unless nice preorder freebies or decent LE. Speaking of I am still waiting fo Yakuza 0 European preorders with the card case thingy. Available in US but not here (if we get it) as I want to support local game where possible...

Amazon lol, got gears of war 4 + the 4 old games for £34 on Friday before launch sold it on Monday for a profit. Can't fault Simply games when I do order from them.

If you want it on launch day, Amazon are by far the worst option to go for. My mate gets me to preorder for him as I have Prime, hasn't once received his game on release. Laughable service frankly.

I've ordered one game to be delivered on release day fron shop to and also amazon.

Fifa 16 never even arrived from shopto so I never used them again yet skyrim arrived on release day from amazon. Maybe it's just pot luck!

Don't want to be 'that' guy, but once Simply/any other retailer have despatched your order, surely it's no longer their fault if something goes wrong?

If they're sending it out on release day or later then yeah, their problem. If not, blame the delivery service.

Amazon Logistics being the exception to the above rule.

I ordered no mans sky from them on preorder. Arrived four days late and got random EU version that I couldn't trade in. Wouldn't use them again.
