Don't forget in terms of coverage, Voda and O2 have announced an infrastructure sharing agreement.

I don't think there will be a significant difference in the tariffs imo. We'll see though

Ah yes, forgot about that. I reckon they'll share the cost of upgrading then.

My contract will be upgraded in February to this. Currently £45 a month so a similar amount should cover the iPhone...

    Not just any phone.

    It's an M&S phone?

When I think of Vodafone I think of endless 'Network Busy' errors and rip-off tariffs.

    Are they still that bad?

I just finished working with the team that's responsible for making sure that coverage and capacity are up to scratch around the UK. While we may miss a few spots, in general I'd be confident to say that except at new year and at some of the more unusual situations - concerts, festivals etc you very rarely see the "network busy" message.

As for tarriffs - I dunno - depends what you want out of it but I pay £15 on a rolling 1 month contract for 300 minutes, unlimited texts and another £5 for 500MB handset data. T-MO have just started advertising the same deal with 350 minutes adn unlimited texts - not sure what their data costs are.

So not a lot of difference really.

Edit: To clarify - I left Vodafone for another job - this isn't a planet :)

Strangely enough, I didn't renew my contract with O2 about 5 years ago because of this. I'd get network busy errors constantly, and anyone trying to call me would often get taken straight to my voicemail even though my phone wasn't switched off/being used.

Well its now up for pre-order for the 14th Jan, just put my upgrade in :)

Tarrifs don't look that good. Minimum outlay on an 18 month contract is £40 a month! Fuck that. £35 is almost too much for me on an 18 month O2 contract, and 18 months is too long as it is.

they benchmark as pretty much the same as the other networks, but it does include use of the BT Openzone wifi hotstops if you need that sort of thing.

O2 have free WiFi included at £30. Voadafone have always been more expensive that the competitors.

3 are indeed getting this, by the way - expect the contracts to be crazy, but it's supposedly next month. Some have already been grey imported for "special" customers...
