| Given the quality of workmanship I'd say it was closer to $49bn that ended up elsewhere. |

I mis-read that and thought you said bitches. Which is probably true too
To be fair, though, 30bn of that almost certainly went on bribes. -

Registered 16 years agoMaybe I'm a bit pampered but I wouldn't stay in a hotel that wanted me to stick used toilet paper in a bin rather than down the loo.

Registered 18 years agoDon't go to Greece then. It is a bit weird and sometimes it is safer to risk it and chuck it down the loo, but mostly it's not a biggie. -

Registered 10 years agoIn SE Asia it's no big deal as you have a hose to wash your arse out with before you use the paper so it won't be minging. -

Registered 16 years agoAgain, this isnt south east asia, its a supposedly first world country that just spent 50bn on infrastructure. -

Of course, I'm not disputing that for a moment.

Registered 20 years agoYou would think $50bn would mean that all the bins had lids on them if their sewage system isn't that great. -

Registered 20 years agoIt'll probably come to nothing and it's just a way of kicking Brazil up the arse.
If the World Cup turns out badly though I can see the IOC starting to panic. -

Registered 20 years agoI think most Britons are still a bit surprised at how well 2012 went, even the bloody weather managed to do its part. -

Registered 16 years agoWhile giving us just enough rain to raise a comical 'britain, eh?'. -
I think you'll find most people outside Britain thought it would be fine from well before 2012 started.
It's just a very British thing to panic the fuck about something and then do it brilliantly followed by a "well wasn't that nice" and then move on to moaning about something else.
I call it the British cycle.
Become complacent about something, wait till we're mildly shit at it> Panic like it's the end of the world that we're not the best or near the best at something> Devote lot's of time and energy to fixing problem whilst diverting it from something else>fix "problem" without acknowledging we're now better> move on to to next panic possibly caused by previous panic.

British businesses do a hell of a lot behind the scenes at all Olympic Games.

UK is making £250 million from contracts for the World Cup and Olympics in Brazil.
