He's good fun live, worth checking out. In fact, think he's touring at the minute.

I saw him at the Latitude Festival last year and he really was great fun to watch. He seems as amazed as everyone about how successful he's become.

There's currently a later with Jools Holland on the iplayer with him on it. Only one song but it's a belter, he's playing a one-string instrument and getting a great sound out of it.

Saw him on Jules Holland a few years back. He only had this mini banjo thing and a foot tapping beat box. He was all kinds of awesome.

The big takeaway from that is that he plays on the main sample used on the theme from s'express. That's genuinely amazing!

Except he didn't according to the article, he played on the album the track which the sample was taken from, but not the track.

Haha, that's brilliant. Personally, I don't care - seen him live and he was awesome. He told some great stories too, most of which seemed quite fanciful (including queuing up to see the first Nirvana gig - a nice segue into how he knows Dave Grohl, who was playing after him). But I'm not sure it really matters all that much - no Blues guitarists and song-writers these days are speaking from personal experience like the old un's.

I thought it was already out there that he'd done some session and engineering work.

Does it matter a lot if he's as good at what he does as he is?

It's not like Kiss were actual spacemen and monsters but I dig them.

I look forward to the inevitable the Great Hobo Hoax documentary.

If it is a lie fair play to him for maintaining the act for so long. It must take total dedication to live the lie that you are southern vagabond in the age of social media.
  • Deleted user 30 September 2016 16:31:57
I'm suprised that the act didn't slip earlier. To be able to weave a mythology like that is pretty impressive, good acting and control of information.

I'd half assumed that there stories he told were exaggerations at the least, so I'm not surprised. I don't think it matters too much.

Woah, this is heartbreaking. I thought he was real, you know? I'm crushed.
Nah, seriously this really doesn't matter. He's not Dylan, or anything.

I suspect that Stefansenville doesn't have any homeless people, but does have suspiciously cheap meat in the supermarkets.

Music journalists need to remember that they signed up to a code, a strict duty of care to stop this kind of thing ever happening again
