    @KnuttinAtoll
Maybe I'm wrong sounds like you're just making excuses to avoid confrontation.

Go on, sure you could take him.

Yeah hard one. I'd start keeping a note of what times it's happening. I wouldn't write them a note or anything because they could use that against you. I suppose it is reasonable to call the police at some point if they won't even answer the door.
Just to be clear, I would definitely not go as far as calling the police, as annoying as it is I can't justify it as they do stop eventually (always before midnight). I will consider going through LL the nuclear option, beyond that it's a case of getting used to it or moving out.

As I said, I really like our place and would hate to let go of it because of this issue. If things were to deterioate between neighbours though, then that's a different story but I hope it'll never come to that. Plus, we'd get penalised if we left before August so there's that also - the optimist in me (god bless him) thinks this might stop by then although it's a solid two months now this is happening. Every day, same times, so not even any need to write down the times.

Edit - yeah, considered but ultimately decided against writing notes etc. it's that sort of passive-aggressive behaviour that can escalate things if the wording (and the interpretation of its receipient) aren't spot on.

@Armoured_Bear I think you're wrong - if I were to avoid confrontation I wouldn't have gone upstairs last night. He's the one who seems to avoid it not me.

Doesn't mean I should have to spend the whole day monitoring his movements and ring his door several times a day, I'd consider that a bit OTT tbh.

The idea of holding my 100W PA speaker onto the ceiling blaring out Christmas songs at full throttle is still quite appealing to me...

@KnuttinAtoll how long do these music sessions last? If they're after 11pm and are regular you've got him by the balls.

Ring your local councils noise complaints team. They will send someone round to bollocks them. If they keep doing it they'll get prosecuted/evicted.

I had this problem and it was hard for the council to catch the guy above me as it was really irregular times.

But if he's doing it after 11, won't answer the door and its regular shop him. It's anonymous too.

It will only take 1 visit and he'll shit himself.

Yep but definitely better to have a word with him directly at first (if KnuttinAtoll mans up).

@Armoured_Bear I thought he said he tried and they wouldn't answer.

So I'd try the council before the landlord. They'll send someone round almost immediately unless they're really busy.

Do it on a weeknight they'll be round in no time

    Outside the UK I think

    Lol @ the above

Had a few drinks tonight and will let the guy off for the weekend. Am in too good a mood to get annoyed about this today. Probably gonna try Monday instead given it's a working day, and it's not like his religious ways will disappear over the weekend.

And yes I'm not in the UK so calling a council there would most likely be futile.

Surely local authorities/municipals across the EU have similar powers though.

I remember being at a house party in Spain when a neighbour complained, the police turned up with a sound meter , measured and kicked us out.

@Dougs police is normally who I'd call if I wanted this sorted the undiplomatic way, and is what the equivalent of the council would likely recommend.

I'm not that clued in tbh as we moved to the country only two years ago and never had issues until now.

I also want to avoid going down that route as it will likely escalate things and we signed a long term lease. Last thing I want in my life is some passive aggressive feud with a neighbour.

And while it's annoying, it's not severe enough of a nuisance either to justify the above approach.

I'll try and make contact again next week, if that doesn't work email LL, if that doesn't work take it on the chin and consider breaking the lease earlier than planned further down the road.
