Registered 7 years agoI don't know, I'd say that's just as bad? Depends what the weather's like I guess. Wouldn't like the thought of coming home after a long day with the intention of sitting outside and getting covered in. That shite.
We moved to our cul de sac in 2018. Really pleasant place, lovely neighbours. Bloke opposite was a bit distant, nothing to moan about. Is house is like ours but he's extended it to every fucking inch of land he could get away with, so it's got a monserous extension and a sort of granny annex that faces our house, it used to be a massive garage.
A new family moved into it sometime into 2019. Wierd people. Very little / no conversation in them. Blokes a bit of a scruffy cunt, bit on the chavvy side. His Mrs is a great big fat thing +, the only person I've seen in real life wear a Pepsi T-shirt. We were all having a street party last year (distanced etc) for VE day. They came shuffling round the corner, couple of people asked them if they wanted to pull up a chair and have some food / beers with us, which they declined - again well within their right. But given how we'll everyone seems to get on, would have thought they'd make a slight bit of effort with the lure of free food.
They've got 3 kids I think. She doesnt work but might sell stuff online. Has deliveries every single day. They've got 3 cars between 2 of them, one of which is left of the road that they've adopted as their drive-somewhat encroaching on their immediate neighbours drive. Just really not very self aware people.
They've always got some sort of shit at the front of their house, be it some sort of furniture, debris, a skip, anything. They seemingly got their shit together after converting the garage to a massive play room (I'm assuming) but left a fuck load of cardboard boxes on the front. I left it a few days but as it started trailing I to the road and towards ours, I ended up dumping it all by their front door before setting off to work at half 5 one morning. They haven't been arsed putting it in the bin yet despite it being the recycling week. Feel sorry for the couple next door to them. They're really polite folks but not the type to go looking for confrontation. I think the bloke may have had words and not spoken since. Just strange behaviour. I get not being forthcoming and minding your own business, but stop being scruffy cunts, yeah?

Registered 14 years agoA street party for VE day sounds the absolute worst as far as I'm concerned and I would politely decline too. Especially if my neighbours thought of me as a scruffy cunt/chav with a big fat wife. -

Registered 7 years agoMost the people on the street are of that age where they're quite endeered to that sort of thing and hasn't seen anyone outside their houses at that point. Its alright sneering at the thought of it on a message board but I thought it was quite sweet.
Ive made plenty of attempts to make conversation but they're clearly not interested, especially the woman. Have no qualms at my perception of them.

Registered 7 years ago..mmm no. I've always been massively conscience about anything that might affect neighbours. I even took my St George's flag down.

Registered 14 years agoI avoided the VE day party as the cunt next door who is forever flying flags organised it, and I'm sure I'm the street's lefty commie prick as I couldn't get a hard-on about maniacally waving a tiny Union Jack flag and saluting a picture of Winston Churchill with my cock.

Registered 11 years agoOur old street in London used to have an annual street party, not linked to anything in particular, just a BBQ and drinks. We used to dread the idea of it but it was always quite good fun really. It’s a shame that VE Day is something that a lot of us find awkward / inappropriate (myself included) as it really is something that should be marked and celebrated. -

Registered 6 months agoYour neighbours don't need to speak to you afaik. They just live in a house near you. As long as they're not being obnoxious (loud music, burning stuff), flouting the law (erecting fences/structures outwith permitted development), etc what's the problem?

Registered 7 years agoFucking hell, nothing like a bit of sensationalism. No, I didn't go. Yes, I was incredibly upset as it was directly after the Manchester bombing. Having just become a Father and knowing a bloke who's daughter was a few seconds from being sprayed all over the street, safe to say it affected my judgement a bit.
Nice to know that people try to keep score, some 6 years after the fact. -

Registered 12 years agoHaving a VE party is deliciously ironic considering we're on the brink of Europe giving us a post-Brexit politco-economic fucking.
And vaccines are a red herring, although Little Englanders will bang on about them for eternity. The negative impact of Brexit will still be with us long after COVID.
Also fuck VE Day parties. Britain's fetishisation of the Second World War has been toxic for a long, long time. It's like we've got cultural brain damage. -
