I am limiting the testing to a handful of forumites at the moment. I have around a dozen people testing the app for me already but as time goes on, some people drop out and I need to recruit others to keep the number of people roughly the same.
Too many people would mean too many bug reports coming in and as it's only me writing the app, I don't want to be overwhelmed by a flood of issues.gif)
Anyways, if more people find they cannot test the app for me, I will recruit others to fill the gaps.
At the moment the list of potential testers is looking like this:
Halo Jones
CrashVoodoo
PhoenixFlames
andy-w
Keep an eye out for a PM in the future. I may be calling on you to help me out

When do you think you'll be in a position to put on the market? Is there an approval process like with apple? -

Registered 17 years agoThe market has no approval process, you have to pay a small fee to discourage spam apps being uploaded all the time, and you need a google account but thats all.
Apps can be uploaded to the market and if people object to them, they can be marked as such and google with investigate.
As for the EG app, I am hoping to tag my svn repository this evening with an eye to doing a proper build of the app for release to the market before end of this week. I have ironed out as many bugs as I can in the last few weeks so hopefully it is ready to rock.
Fingers crossed, the next time I post in this thread will be to let you all know its available.
I will probably use this thread as the place to complain about the app. Seems like a sensible ideal. -

Just a quick heads up. I have had the guys at EG give the app the once over and they have asked for a couple of changes. Nothing too onerous, just some branding stuff and minor improvements.
I will be fixing these issues before putting the app live.

Let us all know what you think of it. It is, from what I hear, a little bit of an improvement over the N1 with more memory, hard keys and no sodding trackball.
You will get to use the app soon... I just have to fix a handful of small issues for EG and then we are good to go. I don't want to release something substandard or something that EG are not completely happy with.
Sorry for the delay everyone... I am as excited about releasing it as you are of using it -

So far it's amazing. The battery life is a bit shocking out of the box, but with a decent power management app, its passable.
It's wonderfully fast and smooth, and the screen is fantastic, even with the brightness turned down really low.
I thoroughly recommend it. -

It really depends how heavily you use it. Leaving it idle, with WiFi off, seems to use almost no power, so would probably last a few days. However as soon as you do anything the amount of power in the battery nose dives.
I reckon you could get through a day, with 2-5 hours of active usage, then leaving it on, but idle the rest of the time.
This is only based on 2 days of usage, where I'm struggling to stop playing with it. Ask me in a few days and i'll be able to give you a better idea.
